Totally agree about synastry being secondary. I think it often comes down to whether both people are willing and *able* to put in the work to understand and *honor* each other. I find this to be true in my counseling practice and in my own life.

The wonderful thing about Valentine's Day in the early grades is that everyone gets a Valentine from everyone else. No one is left out. It's a love fest! Valentine's Day falls in Aquarius season, a time of Brotherly Love ideally. I think its best expression is when we extend love to everyone else and all creation, being inclusive rather than exclusive and romantic.

Thank you for adding to the fun! If we're not grasping for that romantic fulfillment through relationship type thing! I love Valentine's Day. A day dedicated to Love is so much fun! My Dad always bought me sweet little gifts on Valentine's so for me it is exciting with my daughter (she's 1 1/2) and we made Valentines for the grandparents using her foot prints as butterfly wings. This makes so much sense. I'm a Cancer/Capricorn (Moon/Saturn) and the husband is Leo/Saggitarius (Sun/Saturn). I never thought of looking at his ascending sun sign...when I saw we both have Saturn ruled ascending signs it was an aha!

I'm really glad you brought up other things besides just opposing signs, because that really does change the dynamic. My husband is a Scorpio Sun Sagittarius moon. I am a Sagittarius Sun Taurus Moon. Although we are opposites with Taurus and Scorpio, we are both from the Scorpio Pluto generation, so there is that understanding. And I think the commonality in Sagittarius, we both understand each other's need for being our own person and would never ask the other person to change who they are for the other. We are getting a divorce, but it is more like a transition into a deep friendship. I think a lot of times when you have an opposite sign relationship, it's all about healing trauma and growth. I could say a lot more about this, but I like what you said about letting things unfold and allowing the relationship to teach you. Because at the end of the day, you can read books about what different signs are like, but it's not until you are in relationships with people that you really start to understand placements.

Funny that you referenced aspects that My Ex and I had... ME-CANCER MOON and RISING exact 1st house in any house system.... EX-ARIES RISING... We had somuch intense irritating energy from That alone...but theres more...but if you dont kno the xharts you thinkwe were compatible by our suns.. .IM-TAURUS SUN EX-CANCER SUN MAN CANCER SUN to FEMALE( me) CANCER MOON... a question about oppositions: If you have a lot of oppositions in your natal chart, and your partner has those same oppositions along the same axis, could that speak to familiarity in a similar but maybe lesser way than positive aspects between your lights would? also are lights or strong planets conjunct between two charts positive?

I understand your scepticism or cautiousness to a point, but - while I'm also inclined to be critical - I've become a believer in the concept of "twin flames", which I feel can't be discarded lighthandedly, just like faith in general cannot (and this is the whole idea of twin flames, re-connecting with oneself via divine love and consciousness). The leap of faith, the surrender of the rational mind is vital in this journey. And since this is originally Plato's idea in Symposium, I'm curious why you'd discard the concept, while embracing the other ones? I'm very conscientious in promoting my belief - it's taken me two years of hard soul work to make something of this connection, which feels like no other. Pardon me for overwhelming your Facebook a bit with my inflammation. Sure enough, my chart and that of my "twin flame" are very entangled.His Moon at 12 Pisces is exactly conjunct my Sun and trine my Moon in Cancer. He's a Scorpio Sun. He has Taurus rising, and Venus conjunct Chiron at 12-14 Scorpio; Mercury conjunct SN in the latter degrees of Scorpio, conjunct my Ascendant. His NN is conjunct my Descendant.

I'll go ahead to Marsilio Ficino's commentary; but I trust an argument has not yet been made against faith and love, let alone a satirical one. :) I myself have vehemently defied the "twin flame" concept (of which I wasn't even aware), yet I simply had no choice but surrender. The signs were mounting and synchronicities abound; I even spontaneously quit drinking in the process, which had proved impossible to me before. Finally, I've no romantic delusions or practical expectations whatever - the man is dying and largely irresponsive to me. It's an entirely intimate process, indistinguishable from a religious one. I never fathomed I could write poetry before, and by no means do I flatter myself, but my poems are eerily resemblant of Rumi, and sometimes I've repeated him almost verbatim, prior to reading him.

@@softseagreens the Bhakti tradition I practice sees the original twin flame as Radha and Krishna! The goal of Bhakti is to learn to be a servant of that relationship...so you're in good company...I think the idea of twin flames is deeply meaningful regardless of whether or not it is literal! Ficino is great! He did so much to revive the ancient emphasis on the love of God that was present in both Plato and Hermeticism!

First of all, thanks for responding! My spiritual life had completely stagnated, and this "twin flame" connection, whether real or imagined (I feel human mind is too weak to tell a difference), has set in on fire. I have yet so much to learn, and Indian philosophy is another universe in its own - but you're wise to direct me there - isn't it the origin of our entire culture. So, I am to reconnect with the flame in me. I feel that, anyway, we're merely vessels of divine love in order for her to recognise herself/himself/itself. Only in that we're awfully important. It's all about self-love, but ultimately, that's about just Love - a thought enough to give us all the peace of mind we need. I'm a bit of a rebel, and like Jiddu Krishnamurti says, to have an authority is the most vile and ungodly thing (to paraphrase), so to trust one's own intuition is crucial - but once that's clear, it's a vast world of learning. You've given me a useful direction to inquire into the Bhakti tradition. Indeed, Indian philosophy might be where my concept of interest finds clarity, and not Plato. On a personal note, my spiritual stagnation has had to do with a brooding, overbearing Capricorn mother whom I had the duty to not just overthrow - I think she really might mean well, and is unable to tackle her issues. So, this Venus in Aries squaring the nodes has been important to me. First, in releasing a fire through Mars that was conjunct my NN when I unashamedly plastered a poem on your Facebook; to ultimately yield Mars to Venus - tough for me, with Scorpio rising and Mars conjunct the Descendant - but progressed Venus is now tightly conjunct my Sun. In addition, my Saturn just ingressed into Cancer, which Mars will follow to do in a few months; and the transiting NN is just separating from my Moon. Venus angling the Nodes... a crossroad almost like Robert Johnson's. :) To finish, I just had a dream about my late grandmother, my mother's mother who passed away thirty years ago - she was lovingly scolding my mother for reciting some communist crap just in order to make a career in the then totalitarian state. To finish about this twin flame, there's no doubt the affection has compassion as a fuel. Is there anything else that matters, essentially, when we talk compatibility? My Cancer Moon asks your Cancer Sun. :) Well, my Sun in Pisces also poses the question, but all my desire for this person boils down to a motherly care, I'm afraid - this morning I find myself searching for a lullaby sung by Bobby McFerrin to share with him... Oh, it's interesting... An intensely private person as I've been, I found myself not caring if I make my affection public - almost as if only he and I exist. Some may call live arrogant, but there's great intimacy in that - like when Sade sings for thousands, and it feels like a bedroom. So, I started posting on the page of his Virgo colleague, who encouraged me - why else would I dare write so explicitly. At one point I fell out with the Virgo and stopped writing. Some time after, he comes in an interview (they're a band), making an indirect address: "Please keep writing to our friend, do it on the band's page, he's very passionate about the mail he receives, he loves you, it's all such a big thrill, it means the world to him." I took that to be addressed to me, since hardly anyone else writes him publicly. But why wouldn't a Scorpio utter a word... One of life's mysteries. :)
