Welcome to a new segment on our channel: Speed Round, where we take a game and play it as fast as humanly possible (without playing like complete lunatics). I've heard reports that Five Tribes can cause analysis paralysis for people. Well, not on Speed Round!
At the start of this video you will get a quick, pre-recorded tutorial that will transition directly into the LIVE play through between me and Pep.
Follow-up live chat here: • Post Five Tribes Live Q&A
We haven't tried this before. There could be technical glitches - and we likely won't discover them until after the video. That's okay - it's live, and it's new to us, we'll refine the process over time.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask a question in the KZbin comments below.

Fabulously fantastic format! (I thought I would exercise a little alliteration.) This game has become a favorite of mine. I have never understood the AP concerns, as I have never experienced such, in this game. All of our games have been as quick as this one, if not quicker...lol. Also, despite the varied ways to score, and the huge number of points involved, the game is still incredibly balanced. We played a two-player game the other night. I finished the game with zero gold, five Djinns, a slightly better collection of resource cards, yet only six camels placed. My opponent ended with a *ton* of gold, no Djinns, and placed all eleven camels. However, there was only a one point difference in our final scores. That is what I call "balanced." :-)

Rodney, you were supposed to get 55 for your lands instead of the 43. You missed the 8 as was posted in the live comments but you miscounted a 5 pointer for a 1 pointer so. 43+8+5-1=55 Which means you win by 4 points!

he also missed a 1 from his resources if you heard. He said 37... after 30+7+1... so he actually won by 5.

This was a lot of fun and a great way to learn the game. Kudos! Hey Rodney! I’m a bit confused, the rule book is generally unclear about a lot - especially why I would want to do something, and when I’m able to access certain actions/abilities. I was wondering if you could clarify a few questions: 1. Can assassins kill a meeple on the same tile you collected them from? You say, “other” tile in your teach, but your buddy here killed a guy on the same tile. 2. Can use my gins on any part of my turn, even on a turn when I don’t land on a “hire a gin” sacred space? 3. Can I activate all my gins in a single turn if I can pay for them? 4. In a 2-player game, do I activate 1 or 2 tile actions per round? 1 per player marker, or just 1 (the last player marker used) - per Section 2.5 of the Rulebook

Hey Scott, 1) Yes, the video should have made it more clear that it can be taken from anywhere "up to" its range. 2) Yes. 3) Yes. 4) I'm not quite sure I'm following (but it's also been quite awhile since I played. Does the game play of this video help answer that question for you, since we are doing a 2 player game here?

Fantastic job guys. I just bought the game and have a quick question; does Lamia allow me to place a palm tree on ANY adjacent tile, i.e even one that's not an oasis? I was under the impression that both palm trees and palaces are only placed on their respective tiles. Thanks and keep up the good work!
