Not sure about people wanting to show off with big kickstarters, i think its more an evolutionary instinct to naturally want more and better all the time and to strive for this. We can't shrug off instinctual urges that have been there for 200,000 yrs, even if they are not helpful now. It's this instinct that businesses will seek to capitalise on.

You're right... If there's anything worse than multiplayer solitaire, it's multiplayer solitaire where what you do in one turn doesn't affect the future of the game
