The specific item in the story was that he had his players in a wrestling room, paired them off, and required them to attack and subdue each other -- he didn't care if they injured each other. I think he meant that there have been more Popes since the Steelers first season in 1933 than the Steelers have had head coaches.
@19DannyBoy654 жыл бұрын
@@Zach-mw5so That makes sense lol E: It’s not true though. Since 1933, when the team first started playing as the Pirates, they’ve had 16 coaches but only gone through 8 popes. If you only count since they’ve been the Steelers in 1941, they’ve gone through 13 coaches (including rehiring Pirates coaches Joe Bach once and Walt Kiesling twice) while only seeing 7 popes.

@@19DannyBoy65 Probably meant "since merger (1970)" where it's true, but phrased it wrongly. Popes since 1970: Paul VI (1963-1978), John Paul I (1978), John Paul II (1978-2005), Benedict XVI (2005-2013), Francis (2013-) Steelers coaches since 1970: Chuck Noll (1969-1991), Bill Cowher (1992-2006), Mike Tomlin (2007-)

We know it's not Chuck, because Chuck Noll is greatest coach in Steeler history and one of the greatest in NFL history. With the other two, I would have to say Bill Cowher. Both Cowher and Tomlin have two Super Bowl appearances and one win. But Cowher has had three losing seasons. Tomlin has had none, even pulling a non-losing season out of Duck and Rudolph.
