The "Dak is weak for talking about his struggles with depression" take was really weird to me, not because it was below Skip Bayless but because it felt weird, as a Cowboys fan, to actually have fans of other teams backing us up on something. It felt good knowing that most fans do recognize it's just a game, at the end of the day.

That's one thing I won't let anyone do is talk down on Dak as a man, say what you want as a player, but Dak is an awesome guy who has helped millions of people just by showing that it's ok for grown men to be open about they're emotions. He lost literally everyone he has ever cared about and yet is still the man he is today

His list of failed takes is legendary. He praised the Chargers for trading up to get Ryan Leaf, he absolutely roasted Detroit for taking Calvin Johnson over Brady Quinn, He said Jamarcus Russel would become one of the league's top QBs. His job isn't to be right about player evaluation, it's to get people to watch draft coverage on ESPN. Good thing, cause dude is right about as often as the Jets or Browns when drafting a QB.

Johnny Manziel being bigger in Cleveland than LeBron is one of the worst I've ever heard. I'm pretty sure Logan Paul is more celebrated in Cleveland than Manzeil
@Heathcoatman
@Heathcoatman Ай бұрын
It was a stupid take even back then. Not only was Manziel too small for the NFL (which CAN be overcome, but rarely actually is) his one true talent was scrambling and extending plays......in college. With the increased speed of the players in the NFL that was never going to work the way it did in college. He dropped to late in the round and was all butthurt but in reality, it was a shock to most he was taking that high or considered anything more than a longshot project. This is before anyone even knew he had zero work ethic. He was very entertaining in college, but if you think that translates to the pros, I think Cleveland is looking for another GM.

Oh yeah that Chris Shelton situation was crazy. As an Oakland A's fan I noticed this right away also because yeah I know Chris Shelton was on the Detroit tigers but right behind him on home runs in April was Eric Chavez of the Oakland A's. He was always hitting around 27 to 29 home runs a year but he started the season so strong and looked like he was going to actually have a career year. And Chris Shelton was obviously berserk in April of 2006 and he looked like he was just going to be the best player in the league at least in terms of home runs and it's crazy how he just fell apart so fast. Eric Chavez also fell apart that year. Despite being on pace to probably hitting at least 50 home runs or very close to it, Eric Chavez was so inconsistent afterwards that his total ended up being 21 home runs I think when he started off the season with nine if I'm not mistaken. It was a long time ago but it's just crazy how that turned out.

I have an idea for a different "worst takes." Ones that people stick with even after they know they're false. Many people still think of Lamar as an over-hyped RB. Equating wins which are team stats with QB play. So the following connects both of those & another. Caleb Williams is being heralded as the next great QB based on his college footage & his skill set, right? If there was a QB with the same skill set we saw already do in the NFL successfully everything Caleb has only done in college but for some strange reason everyone thought that they were a bust, that'd be a bad take, no? After all, we don't blame QBs for the failures of their coaches & defenses. We can see Caleb do things Goff has never done. Well we've seen Justin Fields do everything Caleb has done & possibly one thing Caleb hasn't. If you think I'm full of it, I can link the videos. When people's takes are challenged they get _REALLY_ defensive & want to just walk away from the discussion. But wouldn't that simply prove me right? The one 'intangible' thing people try to say to save their take is that Fields can't read defenses. But no one less than Brett Kollmann himself kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6bLhpV_iNOlbtU proved that wrong. "Can't" is such a strong word, eh? So right there we had have a take based on a proven falsehood concerning this QB. What _else_ did we miss? Well, now that ability to read defenses is removed, do we have anything but the physical attributes? & this brings me back to the question, *does* Caleb have any skills Fields hasn't used successfully in the NFL? 1) Ability to fling the ball 50+ air yards to a receiver in stride? Check. 2) At weird arm angles & while on the run? Check-check! 3) Scramble dead plays into new life? That's what stand out most for both, no? 4) Threading seemingly impossible passes through tight windows to hit the receiver? This is the *one thing* that I haven't seen Caleb do yet whereas Fields did it a few times in '21. Like the designed QB rushes, Eberflus cancelled the plays that gave Fields the opportunities to do this. See, when Eberflus came in is where a lot of these bad takes resurfaced. A long discussion, but Would You Be Interested? I'm pretty sure that at least *one* of the four guys you regularly get together with for weekly rant-meetings would be Very Interested in seeing this. The one in Pittsburgh.

Chris Shelton was a fascinating part of an incredible season for the Detroit Tigers in 2006. His hot start help propel the team into the national consciousness. Unfortunately that was all he was able to muster, with him finishing the season in the minors while the Tigers would go on to win the AL pennant.

Honorable mention: Clickbait sports consensus that Cowboys will have 12 wins in 2024. In all fairness, Scooter needs constant coddling.

Adam, late to the party and you’re probably the only one that will see this. Owning up to my own worst take though. I laughed my ass off when the Chiefs traded up for Mahomes.

Jimmy Clausen was hyped because of his brothers. He happened to be better than them, but still isn’t saying much. Name recognition got him drafted.

An entire episode can be done on all the bad Mahomes takes from when he was drafted. Shannon Sharp likes to brag now about being on Mahomes’ side but he definitely wasn’t that way when he got drafted!

Seeing a lot of comments about Dak and one of the coldest takes ever was Colin Cowturd before the 2016 draft called Dak “A backup tight end in this league at best”😂 Now he’s getting MVP votes every season and is going to be the cowboys franchise record holder in nearly every QB statistic. Now THATS a cold take imo🤷‍♂️

Regardless of how his career turned out, Shelton's little hot streak probably was a blast for him to experience. Anomalies in baseball are fun.

If you were following the draft back in 09, it was CLEAR that Rubio was the best prospect. He had almost Doncic type of hype coming to the NBA. Rubio was in discussion for top 2. So that wasn’t a mistake, per se. Also, his injuries hurt him. Rubio has always been charismatic, fan favorite, extremely impactful. But unfortunately we were robbed of how great he could be. As for Flynn, I was one of the people who thought the perfect pairing was Ricky and Curry, so I had huge expectations that this would be the pick. However, MN was building a team and Flynn seemed like a ready now guard to fill in while Rubio didn’t make the leap. He had just led Syracuse to championship, if I’m not mistaken. It was moronic to take both, as they clearly would’ve been a horrible fit, so taking curry was less risky and higher upside. BUT, curry’s camp made it clear they didn’t want MN to draft him. That’s the hard part about small market teams. Should’ve taken him 6th anyway. Also, Tyreke was a PG, so 3 PGs ahead of him. And this proves how fit, patience and development matters. Tyreke won ROY deservedly so and was a beast. Then the kings f*cked everything up.
