Fun fact about Bristol: when all of the cars are running at full speed around the track, it actually creates a vortex that extends up to the sky, creating it's own little environment and preventing rain during the race.
@Cynon5 жыл бұрын
Pretty good overview! Not to be a nitpick, but a few things I wanted to add; Chicagoland is actually 90 minutes south of Chicago, and while it's post box is in Joliet, the track itself is in New Lenox, Illinois. It's the site of the infamous giant inflatable orange which creeped onto the track during Todd Szegedy's qualifying run in 2002, which I was there to see. That was really, really funny, because everyone there knew it was going to come onto the track at some point, it was just a matter of when! ISM's road course was not used for NASCAR races, and joined the calendar in 1988. Banking was added to it a few years ago. Michigan gets a lot of fans from Canada and has only one two-lane highway going into the place, which was annoying as hell to get in and out of (last time I was there was 1999). They got so many that, from what I understand, they used to play the Canadian national anthem during pre-race. Mad props for the Swervin' Irvan shoutout. Las Vegas also has an airfield near it, or at least, it used to. Learned that from watching an old IRL race. Indianapolis does lose money on the NASCAR race each year -- they make a lot from the Indy 500 though.

Pocono actually had the longest front stretch in Motorsports. Also each of the 3 turns is a different radius and banked at a different angle. Turn 1 is a 675 foot radius with 14 degrees of bank, then the back straightaway is 3,055 feet long, then turn 2 is a 750 foot radius with a 8 degree bank, then the short straight is 1,780 feet long, then turn 3 is a 800 foot radius at a 6 degree bank and the front straight is 3,740 feet long. My favorite track aside from Daytona. It’s so unique and challenging as a race due to needing to have a clever set up to handle the different turns like that and also seeing the drivers get creative with racing lines and shifting techniques. Also I go every year. And this year, they’re hosting NASCAR’s first ever double header race. There’s gonna be a 130 lap race on Saturday June 27th, then a 140 lap race on Sunday. Both for the cup series. That’s wild. They’re doing that instead of the usually 2 separate races a year there spread out more

Nice take on Kansas Speedway. I've been there a couple of times and it's really nice to ride along in a NASCAR and walk along the track itself. TV doesn't do the banking justice I tell ya. I'd probably say Bristol is more of a football stadium than Dover but both are pretty much enclosed circuits. Also, the international airport on Daytona's backstretch once was used in the 1980s when then US president Ronald Reagan came to watch a Richard Petty get his 200th and final win. There was video of Air Force One touching down as some of the race cars zipped along the backstretch. It looked amazing.

Auto Club Speedway has been selling out for the past 7 years in a row now. Since moving to a one date schedule on the calendar, the track has seen the numbers go up. The track also has the second oldest asphalt on the calendar behind Atlanta and has been dubbed one of the best races in the Cup series circuit for the better part of 6 years. Fun fact about Atlanta Motor Speedway: Former president Jimmy Carter worked there as a ticket taker

About Bristol, they go about 130-140 MPH into the turns compared to Martinsville which only the cars only reach 110-120 MPH into the turns. A lap only lasts 15 seconds there. Back in the 2000's, tickets were on a 1 year waiting list.

I got to autocross on Texas Motor Speedway in 2009. It was a great experience when I got the chance to run my car on the oval. Your car feels like it will tip over on the banks at low speeds, but the g-force prevents you from noticing the banks when you're going over 110 mph.

I've been seeing lots of videos about the current downfall of NASCAR. We're currently early in the NASCAR season, so maybe you can cover that in a future video and make it much funnier than the other more serious KZbinrs.

I know it’s not on here but Portland International Raceway is a great track, went to the IndyCar race last fall and the final count was over 70,000 people. That’s counting all the general admission passes though and not grandstand seating. Great race and cool cars.

Portland is my favourite kind of track: old track with good racing.

Pitting on the backstretch on short tracks used to be a problem because (under caution) drivers pitting on the front stretch got to dip down pit road at the end of turn 4 and could finish their pit stop and get back behind the pacecar before the guys on the back could do another half lap to enter their pit coming out of turn 2. They changed the rules for Bristol quite a while ago, though, to make it more fair for the backstretch pitters.

You had me scared when I saw Nascar. Especially as my favorite sport isn’t popular everywhere but you did good. Ya did good five sports

Phoenix was not a road course until 1991. The oval has always existed. However, the big road course, which extended outside the oval, was closed in 1991. Auto Club Speedway is not the sister track of Michigan. The track often considered Michigan's sister track is Texas World Speedway.

Totally wasn't expecting this. But hey there should be a F1 tracks critiquing next or the Mascots.

Road America is the longest track in NASCAR but its only raced in the Xfinity Series which is NASCAR's 2nd biggest series.

Could you imagine the Predators hosting a Stadium Series game at Bristol? I'd make a joke about them not being able to sell it out because "SOUTHERN HOCKEY LULZ" but honestly I think even the _Leafs_ would have trouble selling 160k tickets for one game lol

Can't wait for the critique of the new Road courses added to the Cup schedule (whether it be its own video or part of one critiquing Indycar or IMSA tracks)
