To me, the Jimmy stuff is just a lot of noise. We are comfortable losing him for nothing more than the cap space so just let it play out. When it comes to this team’s future, we should be looking to trade Bam. I think the league would probably view him as a piece that could get their team over the hump more than they do with Jimmy. I think the fact that he’s not a locker room problem and has years left on his contract only makes him more attractive. Bam has absolutely nothing to do with any of the excitement that’s forming around the fan base. He hasn’t been pivotal in many games, except for when he is flat out sinking us with bad shooting and getting fed buckets by opposing centers. We could get stuff back for Bam that would help us more this year and going forward. Tyler and Jovic obviously play better with a bigger lob threat. Jaime plays better with more aggressive cutters like Jimmy and Haywood. I think we pretty much always needed a better 2nd best player with Jimmy than Bam. Now I think it would be an absolute mistake to go forward with the contract he has coming up. He will never be who we want him to be, because he’s not wired that way. He will never do the freight train stuff consistently. I don’t see him being first or second team all defense this year either. Other teams have much stronger defenses than us and they’re doing it without Bam, we can too. Niko, Ware, Tyler, and now Jaime have breathed some new life into this team, and I think you could get something cheaper and better to put around them than Bam.
