I have always been a big fan of Morel. I was highly impressed either the the entry level Maximo components. I currently run the Tempo ultra. One thing I will recommend is give them a quality amp. Don’t cheap out on amps and power. You can get a quality 4 channel for 350 in todays marked.

I have ran Morel Tempo sets, Elate sets, Elate Carbon pro currently and have been impressed with them all.. I have not ran the super low end sets. The Tempo was an amazing sounding coax when I used it. For me Tempo on up is worth owning. I would not call them a Slow driver with larger voice coils. That voice coil can handle tons of power and provide tons of control.

I have run Morel tempo components and and Morel Ultimo 12" sub in my R34 skyline for probably 5 or more years now. Personally i haven't come across anything that sounds as good around the same price point. They are a great SQ based company who certainly know what they are doing.

I think there is some value it what you say about speaker construction and voice coil design. However, you are mis-informed about speed. For example, the 91db rating you mentioned as slow is actually the sensitivity rating of the speaker. All speakers are rated using a method of measuring the Db output at a distance of 1 meter with 1 watt input. This is to provide a sensitivty rating which can be helpful in system design. For example, a speaker with a 91db rating is generally considered a very efficient speaker that can be more responsive with less power so this particular speaker would work well with either a factory head unit and still sound pretty good. While on the other hand a speaker with a rating of 87db would really require an external amplifier to sound good. It is not uncommon to see speakers of lower sensitivity ratings on the higher end products since most units in the upper price point are assuming the use of an exteranal amplifier and they will sound nice with the cleaner more powerful wattage applied. Obviously you can still use a external amplifier on speaker if the speaker has a higher sensitivity rating (such as 91db) as well. It would be more accurate to say that a speaker rated at 91db is more efficient and versital because it can be driven by both lower power sources as well as higher power sourced (external amplifier, more wattage). It is not faster, or slower. So the conclusion should be don't use the higher end speakers without an external amplifier as the speakers generally are not as effecient and require more power to drive them. Of course they sound better too but do require more power to acheive that result.

In my personal experience, Tempos are my least exciting line in my store- personally I think the maximos are more expressive with better sensitivity. As well, for the pricepoint you can grab Audiofrog GS series or Focal Access in the same ballpark, both of which are in my board next to it and sell higher volume. Just my personal opinion, don't flame me please.

Morel needs to release a higher end amplifier. I love Morel speakers but the amps look cheap and the power output is fairy low for a company that is known for buliding speakers that take massive power. The 5ch amp is as large as the Mosconi Pro 5/30 but the Mosconi makes more power other than the smaller higher A biased channels. They need a Supremo line of amplifiers.. something nicer like the higher end Mosconi, Helix, Brax, Sinfoni etc.. This amp feels more like a Tempo line up.

Morels win for out of box installation with little to no tuning. AF is great, but tuning is an absolute must. Hertz is ok, but for me they are better for SPL setups.

@bbfoto72486 жыл бұрын
+Five Star Car Stereo Dean, there is absolutely nothing "SLOW" about Morel's speakers, haha! That is a myth. There is no such thing as a Slow or Fast speaker or subwoofer. It's technically impossible. Think about it. If a speaker was "slower" than another speaker, the music would become increasingly more & more "out of sync" with the other speakers in your system (your "fast" tweeters for instance), like a bad lip sync. That Does Not happen. People need to stop referring to speakers as being "fast" or "slow". And the area you are referring to under the speaker cone is the Voice Coil "Former" and the "Spider". The voice coil Former is the very thin Round Tube that the Voice Coil Wire is wound onto. The "Former" can be made of all types of materials...paper (like a toilet paper core), aluminum, Kapton, fiberglass, etc. The Flat but Corrugated yellow/brown fabric underneath the speaker cone is called the "Spider". It is connected to the outer perimeter of the speaker or subwoofer basket and to the Voice Coil Former. The Spider helps to keep the Voice Coil perfectly centered in the narrow circular magnetic gap while the speaker cone moves forward & backward, so that the voice coil floats in free air with no friction and without touching the edges of the magnet. The Spider is typically made out of a woven fabric called "Nomex". The speaker's "Surround" is the top rubber, foam, or woven fabric ring that is attached to the top perimeter of the speaker cone and to the outer edge of the speaker basket's mounting flange. The Surround also keeps the Cone and Voice Coil Centered in the magnetic gap while the cone moves forward & backward. The type & design of the Surround and the Spider BOTH help to determine the maximum physical or mechanical excursion limits of the cone (xmech). The speaker will be damaged if it is powered beyond those physical limits. The combination of the Spider and the Surround are typically referred to as the speaker's "Suspension". The Suspension may be stiff, or it may be light or soft, depending on what type of enclosure the speaker is designed for.

Honestly all of the videos I see online for car speakers reviews are never scientific. I wish they had a mocked up door and test vehicle with microphones meant to test frequency response. Now I have to dig through videos where they equate big magnets and voice coils as good and small voice coils and magnets as bad. Or they glance over rms wattage and thinks it's good because of Peak wattage. Or if it costs more it's just good.

You guys are the best! Please help, I have 2 pair of the Morel Virtus 602 components (front and rear) powered by an Audio Control D-4.800 so I have plenty of power. The vocals and highs sound great, but I have no bass presence from the Morels. I used tons of sound deadening, foam "gasketing", foam rings and foam behind the speaker, etc. My JL sub saves the day, but again I should have some bass presence from the Morels. I have the factory Sony amp (Ford F250) feeding the Audio control so I wonder if I might have a factory amp polarity issue or roll off although I can't see it in the DSP. I know the speakers are wired correctly polarity wise as I ran all new wiring (that was fun :-)) and trtiple checked every connection. Would a PAC AmpPRO help in this regard? Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope. Any insight would be huge.

Yes! The Maximo ultras will sound better then the access. Morel stay smooth over different volume ranges and simply stay the same quality but just get louder unlike other brands where tweeters become very scretchy

My precision power monoblock class D amp does 1000 watts and it was only 158 bucks 5 years ago. The Morel does basically half of the output and I'm sure it doesn't sound twice as good. The difference in sound is probably imperceptible if they're matched at the same output.

That five channel, is it only good for a standard sound system correct? 1 sub and speakers. Is this true or false, five channel amps generally are no good when you want to go BooMBooM hard bass and clean mids sound?
@bbfoto72486 жыл бұрын
+JayO1963 Completely false. With the right subwoofer(s) a 5-channel amp with 550+ Watts @ 2-ohms is totally adequate, for instance, with Two 15" high-efficiency subwoofers that are run Infinite Baffle (IB) in the trunk firing through the trunk/back seat divider wall, using the airspace in the large truck as the quasi-enclosure. And you can use Two of the 5-channel Amplifiers to create a very powerful system. For example, use one amp for ALL of the LEFT Channel speakers, and another amplifier for ALL of the RIGHT Channel speakers. On Each amplifier, you could Bridge channels 1&2 and 3&4 to send more power to your front component speakers, and use the 5th Mono Subwoofer Channel on each amplifier to individually power Each of the 2-Ohm Voice Coils on a Dual Voice Coil Subwoofer (DVC) for a total of 1100 watts (with this particular Morel 5-channel amp). Sure, for high power/low efficiency subwoofers, you would probably be better off using a 1,000+ Watt Mono Subwoofer Amplifier. It all comes down to exactly what Subwoofer(s) you choose, and what "alignment" you use them in (Sealed, Ported/Vented/Aperiodic Membrane (AP), or Infinite baffle (IB), etc.
@leecarter27686 жыл бұрын
As a younger man in the 90's, 500+watts would pound the street. Not all subs need 1000 watts to hit hard. If you trying to flex your car apart then no.

You need to learn what the number for the sensitivity means. The spl of 91 means how efficient the speaker is for one word of power not how slow it is I don’t know where you learned your terminology but you need to go back to school and learn that the speaker is not slow nor fast it produces soundwaves sound waves have a designated speed you cannot change them to lower the frequency to the higher frequencies determines how many waves per meter or per octave or however you want to say it is means how many waves are in wavelength one hurts has one weight 20 Hz has 20 waves 20,000 has 20,000 waves

Slow? If i walk into a shop and one of the salesmen starts describing stuff like that, ill probably leave. And by the way, 1.5" like the Tempo uses are a pretty average coil for a 5.25" to 6.5" speaker, a 2.1" coil like the Virtous uses are pretty big, but "ginourmous"?? Please save that superlative for their 3" coiled brethren. I dont own anything from Morel Israel. But i run a 3 way system up front consisting of 28mm tweets, 5.25" mids (3" coil) and dual 6.5" woofers (3" coil) per side, all Macrom branded gear made in Morel`s old factory in the UK .
