Absolutely like to see this kind of videos. One reason is they are not just for someone living on a boat. Gives me the confidence to tackle projects in my motor home. Thanks for sharing.

Best part of the engel it kept working.. 99%other brands go into error mode when the fan doesn't work. Big problem remote.

I'd always soldered connections when i was working only in electronics, but when I started wiring high current DC power circuits they convinced me that proper crimps are preferable, in those circumstances.

When dealing with a "Failed" fan I find 95% to 99% of the time its simply lack of lubrication. Under the label covering the motor is usually a rubber plug which you can remove to add oil to the bearing. I usually use a Dexron 1 or 2 Transmission Fluid or a Synthetic Sewing Machine Oil to lubricate them so the high level of detergent in them will loosen up any gummy oil residue in the bearing. When repurposing a used fan I will proactively pull the label and lubricate the bearing before putting the used fan back in service. Of course replace the rubber plug and clean up any oil residue from the surface where the label gets glued back on to retain the plug. Often after lubricating the fans they run quieter and longer than they originally did before the bearing gummed up. This one may have been the one in twenty that had failed electrically but its worth lubricating them for the potential nineteen out of twenty wins. Best!

I was actually wondering if you couldn't put a drop of wax on each end of that shrink tubing for waterproofing? It might work. Keep the good stuff coming guys.

A lot of fridges are 12/24v devices. My dometic is 12/24/120 (and probably 240 I haven't looked) and so are most Engels. It was given to me as AC works but DC doesn't because the DC cord smoked. But when I tested it the AC just supplies 24vDC to where the DC comes in. I got another cord and it works fine at 12v, I don't have 24 to test. I think in my case the previous owner either had it plugged into 120 and 12 dc at the same time (and it tried to charge the 12v battery with 24v) or he cut the plug off and tried to connect it directly and got the wires backward. Thus smoke. All that to say, I would stick with a 24v fan. If it's like my dometic, the compressor will say 24v as well. If the owners will always use 12v I guess it doesn't matter ;)

I notice on your amazon page you have alot of bug coils etc. A fan will stop bugs and not pollute. The fans you recommend are fabous and having one that is portable to use on deck will stop the mosquito problem.
