I love your short, to-the-point, evidence based videos, and your calm and relaxing delivery. No showy nonsense, no irrelevant rambling, just high-quality information. I love it! I recently got injured in the gym, and it was a wake-up call that I can't just brute force my training anymore like I could at 21. I need to get smarter about how I train, and am on a quest to alleviate the chronic pain I've been in for so long. This is one of the best channels I've found, and I think it will be the solution,.over time, to all that chronic pain from years of mumisuse and abuse on my body. Thank you!

Thank you! I took the "hard" way when I was younger, too. Chronic injury forced me to take a different approach.

@Grown and Healthy I've just hit that point myself. (The Army lifestyle sure as hell hasn't helped) It's time to get smart, or I'm going to be completely broken off by the time I'm 35.

Love the vids, man - I can't believe you don't have more subs! Question: Have you thought about getting a Bluetooth lapel mic? They're dirt cheap and it would really help with the audio. You give AMAZING info, but it can be hard to hear in your outdoor vids sometimes. No criticism, just trying to help 😁👍🏼 Keep it up!

Exercise one: I sure hope you comment on the way you arch your back during the exercise. There may be good reason for that. I noticed because the exercise teachers I have had caution us against that, bring your belly towards your spine, rxtend your tailbone, or if it works for you, pull your tailbone under to flatten your back. I have lack of arch now.but maybe because I sit too much.

AMAZING video as always brother, however the audio seems abit... low, have you thought of using a radio mic, they have bluetooth ones that sink up quite well and wont break the bank. as always love the videos. short and concise with a wealth of information. let me know how i can help your channel grow.

Grown and Healthy feels awesome. I’ve always been into power lifting and sort of shifted over to kettlebells but even that’s starting to feel a little hard on my body. I got my hands on a few clubs and maces and the movements feel way more fluid. So my question is, is it possible to slim down and continue to build strength/muscle exclusively with clubs and maces?
@GrownandHealthy4 жыл бұрын
@@I___Love___U Great! You can definitely slim down withem (faster, if you add jump rope), but the level of hypertrophy and strength will be limited (not enough Stimuli).

Subscribed, great video. Going to get into mace training. What would be a good weight to begin with? Some lifting background discipline
@GrownandHealthy Жыл бұрын
10lbs is a good start. When it becomes easy for two hand swings, then transition to one handed, before raising the weight

Great info. Thanks. How about using the tools at home? A sledge hammer for example?
@GrownandHealthy2 жыл бұрын
Sure, that is how I started... But beware of the head...it is easier to cope when you hit yourself with a smooth round ball, than a sharp edge.
@jdf585-p2g2 жыл бұрын
Coach Vaughn has a good video on mace vs sledge hammer and why hammers are not the same. Use a mace for mace work.

Is a specific grip not required for 360 pendulums? You don’t change grips sometimes and I wondered if that would cause injuries since you said ‘change grip’ at one point.

I know you’re not a doctor but I’m curious of your input. Do you think it’s safe for shoulders that have had surgery on them years ago?
@GrownandHealthy2 жыл бұрын
If you have been cleared for activity by your doctor, then you should be able to use this..try a stick first and then explore more weight.

@srg3798 Жыл бұрын
Looks like I could do that with a sledgehammer too. What do you think?
@GrownandHealthy Жыл бұрын
I have used a sledgehammer, slamming a tire...but the angled edges make it tricky for a full rotation behind you. But it is doable.

this is WAAAAAAAY too heavy. start with 7lbs and only go to 10lbs after a few months where you feel confident. no one has any business using 20lb maces for casual swinging. also swing with your core and your body, this is not an isolated workout as this video shows. his form is very typical of modern isolated weight training, which is the opposite of the mace. he is using this beautiful instrument incorrectly.
@markhalstead2386 Жыл бұрын
He is using it for shoulders. that is why he is not swinging it with his core and body. Also, he says not to start with 20 pounds.
