Fix Android Group Text Message Issues Where Messages Go to Each Person Individually

The issue this video is explaining is reversed for me. My texts get sent to everyone, but everyone's texts are individual. Basically, 20 group chats form and each one contains someone's messages in that group. I'm trying to find a fix, but it appears my phone is the only one with this problem. And yes, that setting is enabled.

​@@swest739 The problem is incompatibility between android and iphone messages. Although its supposed to be universal, Apple purposely makes it a pain for those not in their ecosystem. I never found a solution. I just muted all text notifications, while manually enabling them for direct contacts. The problem disappeared when I upgraded from the LG Stylo 4 (Android 8) to Samsung S9+ (Android 10).

If you are receiving group messages individually, meaning the opposite of what this video is explaining, then go to the settings, advanced, and turn on Auto-download MMS when roaming.

@TIA It seemed to work at the moment from when I did it. Then realized it's the APN or Access Point Name that I had to fix. It should be in the settings for your network/phone service. Then probably under SIMs. Tap on the SIM you're using and the Access Point Names setting should be there. You will need to either add or edit the Access Point with the correct information. I have Mint service and a Goggle Pixel 5a. After I did this I have had no issues with my phone service.

I have galaxy s10e and it doesn't have a advance tab. None of the message settings tabs allow me to pick MMS or SMS. Also it happens to me intermittently. On the same group text. Some times it works as it should and other times it sends to individual. Any ideas to fix?

This works great on my Moto G7, but a friend using a Galaxy A12 is still having issues. The steps differ slightly but we found a Group Msg config flag under More Settings 8or something similar), made sure it was set for Group texts rather than Mass texts, & rebooted her phone. Her responses to group texts still come out as a separate thread for each individual. She can see the group messages, but hers won't show there.

My problem sounds different from everybody else's. I will start a text message and I will input one recipient then I will choose additional recipients. Then it wants me to create a group name but I skip it because I don't want to create a group name. I don't even want this option to come up. Because then after I send the message there are two entries on my phone. One for the very first recipient I chose and then another message for all the recipients.

Click messages > 3 dots > settings > chat settings > unselect chat features ( this allows chat one on one or in groups over wifi or mobile networks without using text messages, therefore you recieve SMS or individual texts for group chats) 😊

Thank you. But our problem is that some can't respond to the last text in a thread. They start a whole new thread. So we'll have one thread of 20 and maybe 5 threads of 19 people. The 20 group can answer all the 19 groups. But the 19s can't answer the 20s. We try to reply only on the 20 to keep all the replies together. It all gets very confusing. Does anyone know why when I receive over 10 in a group text I am not able to respond back to the group? When a sender sends a group text, I can see the message and I can see everyone's reply, but when I type in my reply, it always tells me I need to remove some numbers. Needless to say I can't do it since I am not the originator and I don't want to.
