Robert Berns 1 month ago I have the same model of vizo, the set would turn off or the picture would freeze, I became convinced the main board needed to be replaced. I replaced the main board. The set with the replacement board displayed the same issues as the old board. I then returned the replacement board and reinstalled the original board. I speculated the components were over heating. Viewing the back cover, I observed , what i considered very little ventilation for cooling. Prior to replacing the cover. I drilled 365 x 2 5/16" holes into the cover in the area of the circuit boards. This was 2 weeks ago and the set continues to preform fairly well. The smart TV portion of the set sometimes freezes when loading. Switching off the TV and turning it back on seems to cure this event. Recent update; The power board was replaced,( board purchased from Ebay ) Tv seems normal now except for the smart tv portion. This does not seem to function as well as it should. I am opting for using Roku instead of the installed smart tv option. Hope this helps

Now my tv turns on just fine and everything works normal for a couple of minutes and then the screen goes dark but you can still here what your watching and even change channels. now is this still the power board or is there something else i need to replace?

Hey whats up. My visio tv just took a shit. I was watching tv and the screen turned off but the sound was still playing. I saw that if i flash a flash light in the screen u can still see the image but if u take off the flaslight of u cant see anything. So what can this be. I know it's my power board malfunctioning but I had a quick question. Sometimes the display dims before shutting off. I still use the the TV regularly but I often have to draw the power out of it then leave it off for a while. Is the power board the reason the display dims like that or am I having backlight issues as well?

I got the same model with the same issue... dam thing was 800 buck's...only lasted about a year...when I try to power it on the led lite comes on and goes off in 2 secs then when I try to power it up a second time the led stays on for at least 8 to 10 sec but no picture at all. I see you backlight came on with the little power light. Mine one day video went away and audio too few mins after. The power light comes on and goes a few secs later like its supposed to. I suspect its the main board for me since it has to do with audio video. I checked the power board it has no bad connections no bad capacitors or anything.

I just ordered the part because I have watched your video over ten times today and my tv is doing the same exact thing, but as I am waiting for it to be shipped I noticed that the optical port light in the back stays on even though the tv is "turning off." My Vizio 55" model# M550vse The tv comes on & you see the Vizio emblem & then goes black. I tried the flashlight test & I cannot see anything! The audio still works. What do you think the issue is? Also, I had just turned the front vizio light off to preserve the bulb life so, when the tv comes on, the screen goes black & the light goes out because I turned it off a few days before the tv went out. So my TV gets power I guess.. the LED light turns on then dims out, but no picture at all. A couple times of trying the LED did turn on then right back off. It just did this over night. No lightning storms as far as I know. But the TV was working perfectly fine, picture was fine.. nothing to make me thing the TV was about to go bad. Is this the same thing that happened to you? It looks like a simple fix, I dont want to have a shop fix it and get screwed in the wallet..

Hi i watched your video on you tube and I'm having a very similar problem. I press the power button on the remote and white light on bottom of TV comes on then i get a flash of a blue screen with the Vizio logo on the tv then it goes black and the white light slowly dims and goes out. Sometimes it will turn on fine. Sometimes when the room is dark and you turn it on you can see the image under the black screen. I was just trying to pin point the problem a little better before i spent money on one of the boards. Not sure if its the power board, main board, or the tcon board. I have the same issue with my m502. my power distribution board is not powering on the tv. I have no led. tv was on and I shut it off. now it won't turn on again. power cycling doesn't work. my power board 5v pin has 5.1v, 12v pins have 11.63 - doesn't seem right, also the 24v pin only has 19.8 volts. I think the issue is within the power board.

Exact same vizio model, exactly the same symptom, unplug wait a hour or so powers on fine. If you turn it off screen doesn't power up audio, hdmi and ethernet will pass through but not screen volt meter showed a slight difference in voltage. Buying replacement power board betting that fixes it

Thanks for the video. With your help I was able to narrow my D650I-B2's problem to the T-Con Board. I also Dremmeled out the IR window to make a better connection with the remote from a further distance. The hardest part of the fix was separating the back from the TV! yeesh!
