Plastex is great stuff, I've used and recommended it numerous times. I made and attached a new tab on a Honda motorcycle plastic cover with it and the forming bar.

Do you think this would work on an emmisions repair. (evap code 440 & 400) after smoke test see there is a crack where nipple is. The worry is that epoxy may flow/extend into part thereby clogging it so I cant get a reading. Nissan dealer discontinued this $13 part but sells the whole solonoid $350!

deadmanswife1 I don't see why not. I'd recommend doing a few practice runs on similar material and get some experience and not learn on the real part. Watch the video, and do like it says. Dig out the plastic along the crack so you're working on freshly exposed material, not the dirty contaminated plastic on the surface of the part. I found it was easy to learn and get better at it quickly. I also found that it takes longer to really cure than they indicate. I like my stuff to cure overnight or so. All that solvent needs to evaporate completely out of the plastic. You can also strengthen repairs using technique kind of like fiberglass, or carbon fiber, by sandwiching a fiber into the repair, they show it in the video I think. You can actually make the piece stronger than it was when new if you work at it a little, yet still be able to work and shape it by sanding and such.

I wish I had this about 30 yrs ago to fix my kids broken plastic toys and dolls. I used my soldering iron to fix most items some worked some didn't. Just got some in the mail today to fix some tabs on my 1988 400 SS junior Ducati.

baking soda and super glue?
@PLASTICREPAIR9 жыл бұрын
+guruaccount Plastex Is Not a super glue and baking soda. It is a Polymer and catalyst process that is way stronger than anything else on the market.

+Sean Lewis you know what else you could call a polymer and catalyst process? super glue and baking soda...
@PLASTICREPAIR9 жыл бұрын
Plastex liquid is a methyl methacrylate base not to be confused with a cyo-acrylate (super glue) which only gets a chemical bond. Plastex bonds at the molecular level. Also does not have a shelf life like super glue

Absolute rubbish. Bought it to fix a crack in a plastic side. Used the fibreglass mesh tape method. Looked like it had done the job but as soon as the absolute lightest pressure was applied the whole thing just came away from each other. Didn't stick to the surface of the slide whatsoever. Threw the rest into the bin.

Hi, we are sorry you had trouble with your repair. We absolutely stand by our products and offer free tech support. Please contact us further so that we can help identify the type of material you are trying to repair and what could have went wrong. We do offer two different type of kits. One for hard plastics / fiberglass / wood and harder materials shown in this video and one for softer, oily, more flexible plastics such as polyethylene / polypropylene.
