I've always been a huge fan of isolation transformers. Very good advice for anyone else who might be having these issues. Great videos and great job making them! Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge in so many different fields of audio. 🎉

Awesome, thank you!

Thanks for the video. I’ll try that product. If the transformers are decent quality there should t be any loss in audio quality

I think it sounds fine, and I can't detect any significant difference in audio quality. There may be some fringe audiophiles who cringe at the idea, but it works well for me.

Same issue with my usb and firewire interfaces. I found that taping over the ground bus and the entire metal casing of the firewire cable gets rid of the ground loop buzz. I still need to try on my usb but doubt it'll work. I'm guessing your solution is what a ground lift is to a balanced signal, which is what you have inspired me to try. Thanks

I did this in the usb cable and it worked ( interface audio not powered by usb)

Thank you, great video. I have had succes by tapping with scotch tape the ground wire in the usb connection of my audio interface. (because my audio interface is not usb powered). But this is more professsional. The problem I see... I will still need one of those for each interface output.

Thanks for this tip. I have gone through several iterations in trying to locate a buzz from the REC out on my receiver to my computer analog in to record albums to wav files. I only hear it during playback of the recording. I know its a ground loop issue. This should correct it. For the price its worth a try anyway. I just ordered one through your supplied link. I'll report back after install.👍

Good luck, I hope it works well for you. Computers can be notoriously noisy devices, and ground loops are sometimes not obvious to rectify. Best wishes.

I have a genuine question. It is my observation that 99% of the people to say that they are going to try something and report back, they never come to report back. Do they die? Disappear in a black hole? Go to the same place that socks go in a washing machine? :D

Thank you Barry! Very informative! I have a pair of Yamaha MS101(powered studio monitors) bought over 35 years ago(!!!!) They were buzzing in the last few years intermitently. So I thought, well they're just old. Turns out, when my iphone is about 1 foot near them, they pickup the whatever invisible gremlins the iphone emmits! And this happens only 80% of the time.

Yeah, phones emit plenty of RF. Keep them away from sensitive audio equipment.

@@Barry-Watson And to think I almost chuck out those (indestructible) 35 yo speakers!!!

I know. I gave away a set of really clean JBL 4311B monitors because I thought they sounded awful, and they did, but now I kinda wish I held onto them as a piece of history. Time, and life moves on.

I isolated my PC into a single outlet and the noise was significantly lower. I am going to first buy power surges because all my shit was in one power surge.

is there any way to connect it to a laptop? Some kind of adapter?
@Barry-Watson6 ай бұрын
Sure, if the laptop has headphone output jack use a 1/8" stereo plug to RCA plugs cable/adapter, or seek a audio isolation transformer with 1/8" stereo plug on the input. These things are easily available.

how to install this? whats the adapter name that connect to BOSS Audio Systems Ground Loop Isolator? thank you in advance
@Barry-Watson4 ай бұрын
It can be inserted into an audio line with RCA type Hifi connectors. Has a female connector on one side and a male on the other, so it's easy to insert between your pieces of equipment. There is a link for the product in the video description.
