There's a small hole in the front where you insert a (straightened) paper clip to open the drive door. (1:25 -> 1:50) Much easier!

No. Just clean the rubber with alcohol, and the gear with a q tip and alcohol.

Why not just blow dry or great the rubber in hit water...that still force the rubber to shrink

The problem is not with the rubber, but with the pulley. The place of friction has become soft. You can rub it with sandpaper
