It's so satisfying, getting something working again, without solder. I agree with you, use the original parts whenever possible, instead of replacement, they don't make em' like they used to.

Great video, and good timing. I was just wondering about this approach to fixing my NES. I need to figure out my NES power button as well, it doesn't always make contact when depressed.

Great job on this fix! This technique can also apply to PS2's Memory Card ports where overtime the pins won't make a good connection to the memory cards (just like the NES cartridge port). So in the past, I did what you did by pulling those MC port pins up, when I test it, it works. Some people just add solder to the pads of those memory card which actually works everytime.

Just a heads up, the video interference in the captured Mario footage is due to my converter. It’s time to upgrade.

didn't notice it until you pointed it out but you're right! Thanks for the vids, I've been building up my workbench and doing some mods so it's nice to see someone making high quality instructional vids to absorb.

Ah yes, I've fixed many many NES systems by doing this trick. If you bend them back too much then the games only work in the up position. I believe the true way to fix these connectors is by adjusting the top row pins as well. Everyone talks about the bottom row but I never hear anyone talk about fixing the top row. It's alot more time consuming but If it keeps these systems running for another 5 years without any issues, it's worth it. The best third party option by far is the Blinking Light Win. I prefer to keep the OEM pins as well when selling them but for personal use BLW works great.

Hello DV Game Repair I wanted to tell you that I repair my 72-pin connector with your video and it works perfect but now my cartridges work without pressing the cartridge down. Is this bad for the NES? or I can continue using it without pressing down the cartridge

I hate the aftermarket connectors because they have the 72 pin death grip
