Thank you for posting the how to's Part 1 & 2. I followed all your steps successfully except on the last step to renable reagentc, which failed. This failed for me after copying the WINRE.WIM file into the folder C:\Windows\System32\Recovery as you outlined in Step 2 post. What got me to successfully enable the reagentc was to reset the reimage path. To do this I ran reagentc /setreimage path, C:\windows\system32>reagentc /setreimage /path c:\\windows\\system32\ ecovery . Once this was set, reagentc enabled successfully and the Windows Update successfully completed without the Ox80070643 error. Much appreciated for your insight on this problem.

Bro you are a god WTAF, read this comment while having same issue as you and said why not. Ran the commands and boom "reagentc.exe: Operation successful" finally. I ran into the same issue. I couldn't re enable reagentc either. I reset the image path as you suggested and I was finally able to re enable reagentc! Thing is now when you run reagentc /info it says the RE location is on partition 3 and not the partition 4 we created. Note the update does install now but not sure if the RE location being on the main partition will end up causing a problem down the road.

Mine still can't enable it even with the file in the recovery folder, what can I do? EDIT: Run the command reagentc /setreimage /path to set the location of the Windows RE image file. For example, if the file is in C:\Windows\System32\Recovery, run reagentc /setreimage /path C:\\Windows\\System32\\Recovery. This fixed it and I was able to enable

At 9:32 when you extract the file it says winre and not winre.wim I tried doing what you did but my file was different for some reason and it wouldn’t work

Thanks, I managed to fix and update it. But now I have 250 MB of Unallocated Space. I've tried using Minitool Partition Wizard to extend the WindowsRE partition, but it said cannot extend and "not enough free space". Any tips to merge this Unallocated Space?

Hey bro, I looked at both part 1 & part 2 and what I was looking for is not explained at all, in the part where you must choose between "Dyn & Gpt" I don't have a star beneath either of them. Can you or anyone explain why it doesn't tell me or how I can check a different way?

No matter what I do, I still get "The Windows RE Image was not found". I see everything in place where it should be. If I upgrade to windows 11, do you think it will repair the issue. I also have other hard drives on the machine. Could that cause problems? I'm nervous to shut down my pc I am also not sure how to perform a back up while I can still access everything.

@@MrDabrudda Yes I did step 2 right after to no avail. Still get the exact same image even though it shows up where its supposed to be. I'm going to try to install Win 11 to see if that fixes it. if not the only alternative is a clean reinstall. Not sure though. Thank you for the reply.

To fix this error, you need to address all issues concerning your legitimate copy of Windows. Most likely, you will need to reactivate Windows, due to some hardware or software change. In my case, I had to replace my main board. So, Microsoft doesn't recognize my laptop anymore. This can only be fixed by reinstalling, or reactivating.

After placing the Winre.wim file i still got the Reagentc.exe: The Windows RE image was not found. fault. Turns out i also had to replace the ReAgent.xml file from the install.esd in the recovery folder. Mabey this is helpfull for others.

That isn't helpful at all. 2: This video and the article posted, did not solve the issue for me. I had to wait for a friend who understands and works with computers to assist and the the solution that solved the issue is not listed despite that very topic you linked is just an echo of the video anyways. Though, posting the link is a helpful reply regardless so I will respect that even though it didn't help me personally. 3: The solution was that the file somehow was being unreadable. anytime it's disabled, it will break. Having to restore a brand new copy of the file has to be done anytime I disable it. The reason is caused by my computer not properly disabling it causing a file corruption on it's readability but not corrupting the file itself. (hard to explain without extreme details that is too much for a reply comment) Anyways, we can't figure out why this specific issue is occurring but having to manually redo the file pathing using command prompt anytime the file is disabled is a temporary work around. As far as we know so far, is that it's related to the registry directory based on Windows Defender and 3rd party protections that cause it to trigger but can't find out if it's true or not.

If the file was unreadable then it probably did not exist or got deleted and the Part II video should have fix/restored the missing file(s). I found the Microsoft article about the powershell script after I posted the 1st video.
