@@faith3305 I stand corrected. "Low Latency Mode" only works for DX9 and DX11 games. RDR2 has NVIDIA reflex low latency built into the graphics settings but I don't think it makes much of a difference, at least on my card

Pro Tip: In case you're playing on PC with MODS. Delete the Bank Assault Mod if you have the Leny Trainer, idk why but it causes some conflict wich results on the fps drop. At least that was my case... Hope it helps

OMG thank you so much! this was driving me nuts, changing the affinity to 2 cores eliminated the stutter but my fps dropped quite a bit, i enable an extra core and voila! smooth as butter

Look at the first part of the video. If you have an i7 try putting the affinity at 4 processors, or match the number of actual cores of your processor. I suspect RDR2 cant deal with hyperthreading (yet) and that's what's causing the stutters. I put my 6700k at 4 and it's smooth now

yes, even when standing still, holding the shift key and panning around, i tought it was my gsync monitor screwing up untill i found out the shift key was responsible! without shift - smooth as butter.. with shift * screen tearing ish kinda experience * ( NOTE, this does not affect the FPS, the FPS stays stable troughout the issue ) EDIT: i found a fix on the web, go to rdr2 settings controls, and change mouse input from raw to direct, it "fixes" the issue

Here is my solution when i got freezing and exited unexpectedly....go to setting on rockstar launcher -> my installed game-> rdr2-> search launch argument then text -safemode and play. change your setting ingame with windows borderless mode with your current res monitor and reduced your graphic setting on high. thats work for me, now i could play normally. my rig i5 3570 ram 16GB vga 1060 6GB win 7. dont play on fullscreen mode because it would make your pc cant resist to load the game

bruh... switching to direct x12 made it stop opening completely ,_, Edit: if it doesn't open after setting it to direct x12, go to your control panel, apps and functions, optional functionalities, add a functionality, go down to "graphic tools" and install that. It will definitely open after that. But this led to another problem for me... The cursor won't leave the screen :( anyway, this didn't completely get rid of the stuttering but it did make it a lot less frequent. I'm going to try the first two processor thing right now

Switching to directX12 is what fixed it completely for me. The 2 cores thing crashed my game and made it much worse. I also right clicked rdr2.exe in task manager and set priority to high. Idk if that helped but the directx12 was the solution for sure.

Hope this might help someone. Going into valentine made my game literally unplayable. My game would freeze every two seconds and unfreeze for literally 0.1frames per second. Anyway. I did the cpu thing. Halved my FPS. Btw my system is msi 1070ti gaming 8GB. I5 7600k 3.8 clocked at 4.2ghz. And 24GB of ram. Anyway my cpu has 4 cores. Only ticked 2. Like i said my frames literally dropped to half of what I was getting. From a steady 60 to 30fps. Anyway I selected all the cores again and my game did not freeze once after that and I also changed to directx12

2nd one worked for me and my issue was extremely low frames on a powerful pc or sometimes it wouldn't even load in. Just unlock advanced settings and turn on DirectX 12 like he says.

Thanks, when I set affinity to 2 cores the game runs smoother. My issue is when I play story mode the game will freeze/pause for about 4-5 seconds. Then when it resumes it is like my character and the game were still progressing/moving forward but then the audio catches up and I am hearing current dialogue with the audio I missed on top of the current audio. What does setting the affinity actually do? I read what I could online but how does it help in this situation? Thanks again.

Trying these options caused a worse issue of my game not even starting. I happened to run into another one of your videos and it was basically the same exact video. The best yall can do is go into the Settings folder under Rockstar Games in My Documents and set the Async value to true and mess with the in game settings until you get the best results your gonna get. This is a massive game and its not gonna run as good as most people here are able to run it. Anyone else having issues launching the game, try re-enabling cloud saves in the R* launcher. I dont recommend doing anything in this video maybe other than disabling full screen optimizations. It took me 2 days to fix it.

Switching to DirectX 12 can break your game. If you were unable to start the game after switching, go into your Documents/Rockstar/ReadDead/Settings and then delete the System text file. That should reset your Gfx settings, and create a new system file next time you start up.

The game has a problem with a VRAM leak tho that seems to be tied to NPC's . That can't be fixed tho . If you run arround Valentine during the day arround town . The church and the auction yard the game will keep dumping VRAM on DX12 or just straight up Bottlneck on Vulkan because that doesn't drop memory .. you could have 20gb VRAM and it will keep happening anyway . It's hard tied to how much VRAM the game is supposed to use

Still dont work. Are you talking about this wierd black hole what shows up when you exploring world, or stucked loading black screen?

Holy S*@T it worked! I'm running a Ryzen 1700x with a GTX 1070 Ti 8 GB ROG STRIX Video Card and there was stutter when I would play, and the first step took care of it. I did have to restart the PC after but damn it, it worked!
