The videos you have put out lately are fantastic. It might be considered beginner, A1-A2, but it also helps the intermediate learner of Italian. A great deal of teachers today do not focus on the grammar, which is good and bad. You learn how to speak Italian quicker but it is not correct Italian. All I’m saying is your doing a very good job filling in the knowledge that Italian learners need to know. THANK YOU

Cara Inge, un buon accento non è facile da imparare, ma possiamo solo provare.

Infatti per noi italiani è molto difficile parlare inglese con un buon accento. Facciamo tutti del nostro meglio!

I think these videos are great. They help with structure and gives me precise ways to practice forming sentences. I do have a couple questions. I used Mi piace la tua sorella minore, instead of sorellina. Is my version incorrect, or is it an acceptable noun for the sentence? Oh I just realized - minors means younger......my mistake! I just answered my own question! Spaghetti: I am assuming is automatically a plural noun, didn't really think that through - are all specific pastas to be consider plural nouns? The video mentions no article used for singular nouns, so as above, is pizza not considered a singular noun? And if that is the case why is "tua" used (singular) for a plural noun - if tua is supposed to be used then why is the article used? Is this an exception that needs to be simply memorized?

Ciao, thank you for your questions! I’ll get back to you tomorrow with my answers 🙂

Let's answer your questions 🙂 Yes, spaghetti is plural (the singular form is spaghetto), and yes, the various pasta shapes are plural words: maccheroni, penne, fusilli. If you open a packet of pasta there are as many pasta pieces as you can count and you rarely talk about just one of them! No article is used with singular KINSHIP nouns, not all nouns. So, "ho mangiato la pizza" but "ho visto tuo zio". The golden rule is: always use the article before a possessive adjective, and try to memorise the very few exceptions to this rule. The problem only arises with kinship nouns. So, with singular nouns of kinship the article is not used: mio padre e tuo cugino. BUT the article is used: • With the possessive loro (their): il loro fratello, la loro zia. • With modified kinship nouns: il suo fratellino, il nostro cuginetto. • Or if they are followed by an adjective: il mio zio materno, la mia sorella minore. Actually in common usage you can also hear, "ho conosciuto tuo fratello maggiore" and so on, without article. • The article is often used with mamma, babbo and papà, even though they are singular: il mio papà, la tua mamma. This is a personal preference! I hope this helps. Take your time to go through the videos to avoid an overload of information 😊

Hi Colin, even if English is spoken all over the world, it's still great that you make the effort of learning other languages, however difficult it may be! Don't beat yourself up over mistakes.

Do not know why the english just will not make an effort with the pronounciation!! They are hopeless !! Not that mine is perfect- find the "R" impossible to get perfect. ( My husband is english 😂)

Well, behind every accent there is a brave student who is making the effort to learn another language... and I find the British accent charming !😊

@@MyItalianCircle It is charming really. My apologies for having been rude. It just made me smile ! all students should indeed be praised for trying to learn a language. I TAKE IT ALL BACK !! Just like french english is also charming. The most boring accent is no doubt the danish - I was accused of speaking french with and english accent when I lived there!

Lots of us make the effort. One of my proudest moments was when a Frenchwoman to whom I was talking in French told me that she could tell I wasn't French, but she didn't know where I was from. I try to do the same with Italian.

I think most Italians are very appreciative of foreigners who speak our language, we know how difficult it is. In the meantime, English is butchered all over the world, and especially in Italy! :D
