Fix Vocal TIMING with Melodyne Essential

Honestly. I've spent a whole hour searching how you could edit the length of a note, and then I found you and you solved my problem in like 3 words. Why could no one else, including the melodyne website, simply say that time grid shouldn't be active???? You're a legend

Thanks for the great video! While it might be more convenient to time-align in our multi-track edition, i.e. Melodyne studio, because it gives you additional visual control, it makes perfect sense to align by ear. Also, great to see that you don’t fix everything but leave some deviations in the vocal performances. Very appropriate for this kind of music. Well done!

Great tip to turn off the grid but also why not just hold down the alt key so you can make smaller adjustments?

Thanks! How do you move a blob without stretching it!?

Put your mouse pointer in the middle of the blob. If the blob is too short then stretch the timeline. More awkward to move a blob without affecting the adjacent blobs, in that case you’ll probably need to select the blob and make a larger move to break its link with the adjacent blobs before repositioning it. Check out the Celemony tutorials by Rich Crescent, they’re really informative and go into greater depth.

you can hear the background music or beat while correcting your vocals in melodyne ? am I right ?? I had fl studio's stock plugin newton... In which , when you try to correct your pitch, you can not hear the background music or the beat.

That’s the goal haha. Hey as long as there aren’t any timing distractions in the vocal then there’s no need to edit. If the vocal take requires me to make 20 different timing adjustments then it’s always a better idea to just start over and record a better take.
