Fix Windows 10/11 Search Not Working | EASY | Updated Guide

Trying to use the Search section on your Start Bar/Taskbar, but can't because it's just blank or not showing anything? Well, this video shows you the simplest solution to this issue and what may be causing it. By the end, you should hopefully be able to search your computer as usual!

My windows opens when I press the windows button, but once I click the search bar on the top it all cancels itself like I exited. How do I fix this?

Last step in control panel -> indexing -> trouble shooting -> run administrative recomended fix, works for me 👍

The index rebuild worked for me!! Like a charm!! Thanks so much!! I tried everything else. Stopping and starting the search service. Replacing the SearchUI.exe files. DISM Scan, SFC Scan.

Thank! this problem almost me me pull my hair out the bing disable did the trick usually i'm using everything to search but it can't find some stuff especially related to setting specific to window ( Like open firewall, control panel stuff like that ) which i'm using window search for it New window update make search bar blank / forever loading made me try everything until i resort to reset this pc ( end up not work ) and even reinstall window still not work til i disable bing in reg edit it work now

re-indexing helped, but it only indexed like 90.000 elements, despite the fact that I have 650.000 files and 250.000 folders in that disk. So it doesn't index all files. What can you do against this?

Hey, for anyone reading this, this happened to me years ago. I fixed it by opening the file C:\Windows\System32\ctfmon.exe every time I restarted the PC using the Windows + R key.

@@Mrdsmith500 Didnt find a fix that worked for me, but i did speak with microsoft and we reset my pc, kept all the files and downloaded it with cloud option and it works now, my pc’s also running more smoothly. Apparently i had windows files that were corrupted so it fixed them completely Edit: It fixed the search bar

@@assassins13610 I got this after running the scan. Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Then continued with a path to the logs. I'll try to figure out how to do a "reset" Thanks.
