Great video Matt, I spend hundreds of hours researching batting and fielding videos and this one really got my attention. We can teach palm up palm down, we can teach turn the barrel and scap load and yet sometimes a video like this helps put those pieces together.

Great video coach. Great que you mentioned- "make the hand turning work the elbow down, not the elbow working down makes the hand turn". that move alone with engaged scap should have them really feel the correct slot.

Hey Matt, nice video! You described it perfectly. I was trying to get my daughter to stay inside the ball and keep her back elbow connected. Then after a few weeks her back elbow was leading the swing. Now we are really having a really hard time with the racing back elbow.

The hardest thing to fix in players. Especially hyper flexible softball players. Drives me crazy.

This is 100% my 11 yr olds issue. Hips, stride everything is good, but she’s late because she leads with her elbow. I think this video was great to keep it simple for her taking about turning the hand.

I don’t think the movement specifically lies at the back elbow. I think it’s not understanding how to load the hips by feeling like you’re pushing the back knee up in the hip which gets your back elbow into your scap instead of pushing down into the quad and turning which will start the sequence of bat drag. Then the Top hand stuff that u say all makes sense to me . I was a minor league pitcher though, so what do I really know 😂

One of the most common problems in youth softball and baseball. It’s not an overnight fix that’s for sure. This is usually do to strength and poor mechanics.
