I was saying you should build the trans more for a learning experience than to save money (even if it costs you more in the short term). Just so you know what's going on inside if something is not right when you are at an event. Hell, do a trans build on the vp44 truck.

@@johnbingaman3645 I had just had the trans rebuilt not even 30k ago. And it still looked new. If you see in the video the band was still like new as well. Just broken.

Nice job for the quicker fix I adjusted my BAND three times it goes about 300 miles then this slips like a pig and grease... so then you get a toad, guess it's time to take the trainee out and rebuild the whole thing, thank you Tom for the informative video

Thank you for this info on band replacement. Barrett transmission in Bellingham, wa. told me there is no way to replace the band without removing the tranny. I assume the 47re is the same. My old band broke on the clamp end, so I will try the way you did it and prove them wrong. Thank you again.

Yup I’ve done this band replacement before . The book says back the adjuster bolt off 1 3/4 turn for 48re diesel application. I heard lots of people say back it off two turns. Lavon Miller in a yt video says 2 turns. I wonder if there is a difference in 1 3/4 or 2 turns
