I found out that if you move to the middle a little after your serve. Your character has better chance of getting it. And just hold r2 all the time hahah

I have trouble with the movement, I just started playing today and although I'm able to win games in normal difficulty, winning matches is difficult to me yet because movement has this tricky thing that if you're not moving your player in the direction of the ball when the opponent hits, even if you redirect your player sometimes they won't reach and lose the point. I know it's kind of a skill issue too but other games like Virtua Tennis or Top Spin are more intuitive in this regard, any tip on that?

@@trounbyfire when you say move around the ball toss are you meaning not try and line the ball up at the very top? Or are you referring to the timing mechanic before you throw the ball up? The game was very hard to get the hang of. I'm in career and it skips so much time doing anything.

I found that when returning serve, keep the R2 button held down for his return as well. His return is a winner like 90% of the time if you don't hold down R2. R2 wears down your stamina but it's needed until you at least return his return of your serve. I then let off R2 when I feel that I'm back into the point. Once I'm vollying back and forth, I can let it off for more accurate shots.

Jesus man I don't know what's going on,hell I am on very easy and getting killed ...Seems like the serve is my major issue tho ....As soon as I serve the cpu returns and kills the ball to the other side even before I have a chance to respond.....Wish the had the same serve mechanics as ao2.....Even when I hit the ball it goes straight when I want the ball to go left or right.....Maybe I need to hold on the dpad longer pressing left or right even after hitting the ball.....Playing on the ps5.....Game has alot of potential...

I Know what you mean, plus its like running on tracks not really omnidirectional. I have come to like it quite a bit more after doing the career. I had to learn to not over use Sprint. Most people play the Same shots so there isn't a huge need to run for balls. If you do you only use Sprint to initiate your movement. If you hold it down you may over run the ball

Some tips for serving. I figured it our after messing around in the Tennis School mode. Just hold the X button until the ball toss is at its highest shown in the circle shape HUD display every time you serve then release.

Biggest issue returning serves vs AI is the lag to the controller. So you can be ready even pressing R2, but the delay will be your demise (expert mode). Playin this game you have to accept its faults, or you will become quickly frustrated and quit.

Yeah the way they always do the no-look lob return perfectly is ridiculous. Thats a shot thats reserved for all time highlights but the game does it in a regular.

I understand the serve but everything else not...when I want to return ball do I need to click like x or r2 or L3 to catch the ball... you can click or hold a face button and hold R2. i prefer to hold x and R2 since most people do flat serves and a flat return is the fastest return. the practice in the game is garbage, you basically have to keep playing until you get good or stop playing. you have to really really focus on the ball and you will almost always guess the right direction and also back up a bit. if you are to close to the line the speed of the ball will be to high

I kind of got used to the serving last night on my own. I've only played a few exhibition matches and my serves were always weak but it just clicked last night. I didn't know about the R2 thing tho, thanks a lot. I can get more power on my serves now but I still haven't got a proper ace yet. When you do get it right on the line and at high power, the AI always just stops playing and calls for a line call. And it's in and you get the point. It should be replay the point but it's a game.

@@trounbyfire Definitely. The game is a cheat. There's been so many times now that I've hit the line on a serve and they call it out and I challenge it and it's in. I iust assumed the line judges would always be right because it's a game but obviously not. To be fair, they get it wrong a lot In real life so it is realistic.

Yea you just have to hold to build power and time the precision shot. Its tricky but you'd actually don't need much power to make it fast and close to the line

The first one didn't work for me as my player always serves it into the net whenever I pull the stick back. Also in general how does the aiming work? Cause in career my player literally always returns the ball into the middle right in front of the opponent no matter how far to the left or right i aim. Is it a bug or are my stats so bad that I literally can't hit the ball to the left or right on the court?

You should aim around the high of ball toss. And you are supposed to move your character then aim. Make sure you are aiming even if you move right since the ball is served that direction you may have to move the stick more than one to the right

Doesn't sound like it, are you pressing twice for a safe serve or you line up the toss them wait for the ball to get near its peak then press again?

Well i wish they had a practice court to work on things. Be very subtle at first then work your way up. I normally pick my direction a little before peak ball toss

One click to throw the ball up, another to select the hit zone of the ball (small circle) You just have to time it, takes practice but if you pull back slightly towards you the serve will Go in. You will have to play around a bit

I just started trying to play this game and I can't play it at all. To be honest I was shocked. I played several tennis video games and I've never had this much trouble. Not to mention I play tennis and have taught tennis to the college level. Nothing feels intuitive while I'm playing it. What is the deal with not sprinting properly or my seeming inability to close in on the net to get a decent volley. Anyways I was just online looking for any suggestions and I appreciate yours. On Xbox it's R2=RT trigger is to use stamina to move around the court quickly. You should have this pulled back most of the time, whenever moving, or serve or return. Also, hold down the button of the type of serve/return (A, X, B, Y) until it hits "optimal," while holding the L stick in the direction (or centered) where you want to hit/direct it; moving L in any forward direct has the most addition power; ; same with mid direction and pulling back direction; (aside form charging shot)--(not good for serve but great for fast powerful shots). I find the best kind of shot are pull mid or forward (forward is best, fastest) far left or right to get the opponent running in that direction, then return to the opposite side.
