thank you for that great elaborating but i have one question . where does the pressure drop happen ... i mean where we mesure the P1 and the P2..... thanks in advance

Thank you. The apparatus measures the pressure drop at the bottom of the bed, and above it. The pressure drop represents the difference between forces of the buoyancy due to the fluid and gravity due to the bed weight.

@@medoKhatat you mean that the pressure deference happened in the inlet of the tank and inside the bed right .

No, We started with Fanning Friction Factor (Darcy=4*Fanning), However, it will not affect, because the final shown (f) is (Fpm) which means friction factor for porous medium

thank you for this excellent explation, what is the quation for minimum velocity coz its not clear ,,and how can I measure the bed height in fluidized case coz it is not constant or level

Regarding the second part of your question; the level is measured by a scale fixed to the column. If there is no scale, you can use a ruler. For the first part of question Minimum velocity = [(density of solid- density of fluid)*Gravity Constant*(Particle diameter)^2*Porosity^3]/[180*Fluid viscosity*(1-porosity)]

@@medoKhatat thank you for your reply and regarding the level measured I had a measuring scale but my question which reading I shall take coz the beads pop up with air in different height for certain air flow rate so how can I take height and I have many elevation for the beads thank you again

@@sabahalali4563 The bed height is related to it porosity, the more porosity the higher bed is. I think you mean bubbling fluidized bed (when gas is used as fluid not liquid). If so, then you should measure the bed at its maximum height, because this is the maximum drag force of the fluid, before the gas released to atmosphere and lose its drag force. Note: this should not happed with suspended fluidized bed (when liquid is used as a fluid). Good Luck!
