Excellent work as usual. Thank you! I had the exact same issue with my 2011 E350. Took them to Mercedes dealer last month (in Southern California) for checking and they fixed it for free (without any arguments) since they said it’s covered under emission warranty.

I just had it fixed at dealer for my e350 2016. They charged me USD966.. It is insane how much the genuine filter costs. And the funny part dealer is including a cost named "programming" where i see in your video no programming was involved. Thanks for making this it is really helpful and the way u made it is awesome.. .

Thank you, and excepting ECU, TCU and car key, I don’t think there’s another replacement parts need to programming.

Thank you for the fantastic video. I just bought a 2012 e350 and found the same problem. Ordered all the 3 parts for the less than $100 from Amazon and eBay. I took my time and the job took me 1 hour to do thanks to your detailed video. The dealership was going to charge me $890 for the same job 😱 - needless to say l will be doing most of the repairs myself going forward 😉 and I hope to reference your videos to help me. Also, my plastic cover also had multiple hairline cracks all around. Something definitely tells me that perhaps the gasoline plays a role in the decay of this part with time, making it brittle in some areas and ultimately letting gas come out of it.

Just bought my son a 2012 E350 for his first car. After we filled it up the first time we started noticing a strong smell of gas. Will try to take it to a dealer if not will use this video to resolve. Thanks

Thanks for this video. I just fixed my 2010 E350 by following your video. Has gas smell after filling tank to full. Had a crack in the plastic lid in a different location than yours. Put in a new lid and sealing rings and no more smell. You helped a lot !!!

Excellent work, very professional! Thank you for posting. This is very helpful, as I have the same problem. Called Mercedes Benz Customer Service and they told me to take it to the dealer, and of course, called the dealer and they want to charge me for their "diagnosis". I will do it myself.

Can anyone tell me what the two nuts in the center area support? Between the two openings? When I took my seat cover off to inspect the fuel cover for leaks I noticed that the nuts were missing, but them found them hiding in the corner. Just wondering what was not being supported while I have been driving around.

Senior Leigh-excellent videos. Question: The smell is very heavy on the driver's side of my 2014 W212. I see your repair was on the passenger side. Is it likely that the cover on the driver side must be replaced? Do you have experience with the driver side components which is where the pump and sending unit appear to be?

Thank you, and answer: If the leaking occurred on gas tank, you might smell the gas outside of the car especially in garage, you can’t smell it inside the car. You can uninstall the rear seat and access covers to check the leaking, like my video whatever which side, that’s something. If you smell the gas inside of your car that’s probably leaking occurred in the engine cabin. The smell come through the vent hose of the air conditioner.

I have an issue with my 2011 E350. I pulled the back seat and access panel. But it appears that the unit is all one piece. I removed the medal ring and was thinking I would find the plastic ring next, but it appears mine is all one piece. I stopped at that part because the parts I ordered by your part numbers are not the same.

Senior Leigh please help! I followed your video, and replaced the fuel pump cover ring by following your video. In my case, unfortunately for me, one of the 10mm bolts broke off when I was tightening the bolt. Even though I used a torque-wrench, it didn't click at the 5N-M setting, and evidently I tightened too hard. Help please, can this bolt or stud be replaced? I have done a search online and I was not able to find anything related to this issue. I appreciate your kind assistance. Thank you.

There is no request on WIS with this process. Only "set the ignition status to 0 positions".

It’s part of the fuel pump under the seat

@@Sir.yaw1 The fuel pump is under the right of the rear seat, and the filter is under the left of the rear seat. The opening step is pretty the same as this video. If you'd like to know more detail, plz move on to www.leighsr.com/forum, and post a thread with your model of the car or VIN, I can pull out the guide of how to replace the fuel filter and post it on your thread.
