Thanks for the video! It was far more useful than the 10 minutes "how to replace the motor" ones. Indeed water ingress, I just washed the car yesterday and noticed some increased noise afterward, and today it was not folding in out fully. Great work! The WD40 trick solved it.

Used this on my 2019 CX-9 and it worked! Sprayed behind the mirror, and also in the small gap where it pivots. Then I moved it forward and back with manual assistance. It did not fix immediately, but after sitting overnight problem solved!

the same problem happened to my car after it was washed by the repairer. I thought they broke the mirror somehow, but they say they didn't touch the mirror. Most likely because of the wash after watching this. I just gave it a try, hope it works tmr. Thanks!

Worked on my 2021 CX9, 5-6 sprays around the edge of the mirror, locked it and unlocked it about 5-6 times waited, 10min later worked perfect!

I have the same problem, WD-40 fixed it! Here in Panama, it is the rainy season and there is lots of rain. I sprayed much WD40 than you did here, and it immediately fixed the problem. Many thanks for your tip!!

Thank you very much! My 2021 CX9 mirrors wouldn't fold after car washing it. Some WD40 on the upper quartile of the mirror, and when the mirror is trying to fold in, gently give it some help, like a light nudge. After a few times, it'll work! Save me a trip to the dealership!

Worked for me. I used the mirror control button to cycle the mirror after spraying WD40 rather than using the key fob.

Great video it works! But spray it as stated and leave it for an hour maybe better. Then Works more after the 30-40 try it’s definitely from water getting in there as it happened after really bad weather. Works fine now

Yeah it depends and usually takes some time to work in my case it took minutes others say it took them hours before it started working again

Thanks worked on my cx9 2018 model. I found leaving it after spraying for about 5 minutes and using one finger to gently push in the direction when locking and unlocking worked best for me.

i have this problem after wash the car, i already spray wd40 but the left mirror still close only half not full. do i have to leave it for a couple of days so the water really dry out? how many days should i wait? does the water ruin my motor or it is common and will fix itself in the end?

It went back to normal after a few minutes from the time I sprayed the wd40 I guess it varies after you apply the wd40 leave it for sometime a couple of hours and check on it later but regardless be sure whenever it’s washed to avoid spraying water inside the side mirrors, I took my car to Mazda’s service center today and they advised that I ask whoever is washing the car to cover the side mirrors while spraying water which sounds like a hassle but be said that’s how they do it in our Local Service center

Just the regular one , the thing is you need to use it to displace water away from the wiring /electrical part that’s my guess what happens and it works

awesome. my mazda 3 had exactly the same problem, would only close half way unless i helped pushing it fully while the motor was running,went to get some silicone spray,later started working again by itself, my spray is ready if its not unstuck itself fully, im guessing this is a common issue if water gets behind the mirror

It is a common issue, btw the agency offered replacement while it was under warranty at some point but I refused because that would be a waste of resources since it’ll reoccur and the solution is affordable

Really? I just use the standard WD-40 with the long stick nozzle, faced the same issue on my right side(passenger side) mirror a few days and applied the same fix, worked like a charm again =))

Umm I wouldn’t do that , be sure to keep the side mirrors unfolded whenever the car is off for a wash and if ever it reoccurs you can use the WD40

Hi! might be related to model number, there's a button next to window buttons that folds, unfolds and if kept in the middle works as automatic closure, this is a 2018 Model, I believe this feature was added from 2016 onwards

Make sure you generously sprayed and all around the glass, that’s why I do if ever the issue re occurs, then do the opening and closing multiple times and after sometime it works on its own, might take over an hour even, moving forward make sure you don’t close the side mirrors when you take it to a car wash, I noticed the issue doesn’t occur when I keep them unfolded when taking it to the car wash

Hi can you help both my mirror aren't working I've done all that you have done no luck at all my auto electrician told me it's the switch so changed the switch still no good I can't hear any noise when pressing key fob so could it be the moters need replacing mazda 3 2016

Yeah your issue sounds different cause in my case it opens and folds just not all the way, if you started facing your issue after heavy rain or a car wash then it could be similar to the issue in my video otherwise it could be something else. I’m really sorry I’m no expert in car repairs or electrical repairs just a user sharing an experience of what worked for my car, good luck bro🌷

Same issue with my cx5 2019. One of them will be replaced under warranty. The other have no issue yet. Bottom line is don't wash the car and don't drive when it's rainning. Very frustrating. Think I will desactivate the feature for good when warranty over and let them seize hard in driving position! 🙄

Now we are outside, obly have this car for 1,5 years and I dont plan to change these mirrors every time they break. There is no software option to turn it off. I am thinking about changing them to manual mirrors. Thnx for the help.

*Блин это беда всех cx-5, дело в том что wd4o это как бы и не смазка вовсе а скорее растворитель, то есть по началу даст кратковременный эффект но потом только хуже будет потому что остатки смазки которая там есть растворяться... Как вариант нужно искать именно спрей-смазку и пробовать задуть, но вообще по хорошему нужно разбирать и нормально ложить туда хорошей силиконовой смазки, но блин что б разобрать зеркало нужно снимать карту дверей, короче делов и делов....😢*
