Fixed: Missing Grill Vent | Repaired not Replaced

Since I posted the video about teaching our kids how to fix and repair things, I've had a ton of wonderful feedback. Some of you asked me to start showing how I fix and repair things. I thought this was a great idea, so here you go. This time, I'm replacing a missing vent on a BBQ Grill. This was a quick project just using anything I had on hand. I plan to continue making these Fixed videos. Hopefully they will give you some ideas for things you may need to fix.

I agree with just fix it. I have a Weber grill that I’ve had for 20+ years. I’ve replaced grates, burners,hood, smoker box and the electronics. It’s still going strong though I probably need to replace the igniter again. It’s amazing how long you can keep something going if you take care of it and buy top quality products to start out. I also have a Toro mower and snow blower that are 20 years old and still going strong. I’ve showed my son how to do the upkeep on those too. Heck, both would probably last a lifetime if I wanted them to.

Yes! I have older mowers, grills and lots of other things. Fix them when they break and take care of them and they'll last a long time.

With my OCD I would have to replicate the part exactly and make two of them if the materials were not very similar. Then I would have to coat them with some black high temp spray paint. It's not easy living with OCD... lol

Yes, just get it done. Sometimes we (myself included) get too wrapped up in making the perfect thingamajig. Sometimes, just simplifying and knocking something out can really be satisfying.

Great video and very functional fix. That piece will outlast the other original piece also since it’s thicker material. Might want to save your template for when the other side breaks, LOL.
