Very reliable powder to use with reduce load, 2/3 Moa@100m with my 7.62x39 @1600fps using SST123. Some how l found SD could be high at times with very light or very heavy projectiles/bore but not always... Very handy powder to keep on your bench in my humble opinion ;) Thanks for the video

Johnny, for next video, instead of cleaning, annealing then resizing again AFTER annealing, please do the annealing last AFTER you resize to get rid of the work hardening from the next resize also. Watch your turret head @ 35:46 - See how it pivots? When I was using my T7 I put a 4 though shim between the body and the turret at the rear to keep it better aligned. It helped with runout quite a bit. I moved to a really nice single stage for my precision stuff. - Also, check out K&M Mandrels. I use them in all of my 223 and 308 FTR loads.

From Redding: "A turret press has to have some clearance, otherwise the turret head would not be able to rotate. There will be some deflection when running a case into a die. With the T-7 the Turret Head will tip back and make contact with the support block in the rear of the frame. At this point the press is a rock solid as any single stage press. This deflection has been accounted for in the engineering design of the T-7 Press. The mounting surface of the turret and support block are cut at different heights and each turret head has been matched to a bushing that is .001" taller than the turret. I have talked with customers who have tried to tighten the deflection by polishing down the bushing only to find that the turret will no longer turn. Fortunately the bushing are not that expensive."

I believe these bullets to be coated with HBN or something similar. I have been getting good results by cleaning the bore, polishing it with JB bore paste, and pretreating with a patch weted in a slurry of HBN in rubbing alcohol. Seems to reduce flyers after cleaning. They also tend to run slightly larger in diameter so it may be worthwhile to use a slightly larger sizing die bushing.

Why do you go into so much depth with the 6.5 creedmore and not the.260 rem? It has become one of my pet peeves that everyone pushes the creedmore so hard and leave out the.260 which has been around a lot longer and is an accomplished round already. After all, there’s nothing that a creedmore can do that a.260 can’t. I’m sorry for going on a rant about this, but it just gets under my skin that the.260 continues to be left out due to hype!

I just hand loaded some 110 gr Varmageddon in .308 The manual says over all length is 2.600, it seems to me that the bullet is seated too deep. Should I believe this number in the Nosler manual? The reason I'm concerned is I loaded some Sierra Varminter 110 gr with 48 grains of 748 and it still has some room in the case when seated to 2.600 like the Sierra manual says. The varmageddon bullet seated at the same 2.600 results in a compressed load. (The Nosler manual doesn't list 748 as a powder to use at 110 grains but does at 125 grains.) What would be best to do? Lighted the powder load or seat the bullet out farther? or compress it?
@JohnnysReloadingBench6 жыл бұрын
Sierra shows a max of 50.9gr with the Varminter so I think you've got some room to play without blowing your face off. If you're feeling nervous about it you could always back off a bit more for your initial test. Another thing you could do is measure the length of the Varmageddon and Varminter and calculate the difference. For example; if the difference was .090 you could seat the Varmageddon to 3.690" and the base would be at the same depth as the Varminter. Hopefully that makes sense. Whatever makes you feel most comfortable.
@z50com6 жыл бұрын
@@JohnnysReloadingBench I just bought a Hornady Lock-N-Load Comparator on eBay tonight to measure where the ogive is on the Varminter that is working well for me. I'll seat the Varmageddon at the same distance I measure on the Varminter. I thought 48 grains was a good starting point since Sierra said I could go 50.9 Yes it makes sense, the difference of overall length between the 2 bullets is .125 the comparator should give me a good place to seat the Varmageddon. It's great to see you back, it's been way too long since you made your last video. I really enjoy what you do here on KZbin.

Just my 2 cents. I would suggest against pushing for velocity with 110 in .308. I tried it and it was too much for those specific bullets. It copper fouled my Savage 10 twist barrel so bad that within 10 to 15 shots it went from .75 groups to 6 inch groups and it was a royal pain to get all the copper out. Don't know your twist rate but if it's a 10 twist, save the headache of getting all the copper out. Also tried it in a shilen custom barrel. Same result.
