this is good info. But don't force it too much, it will strip the gear wheels inside. The main problem with this binding is the bearing inside, it gets rusted. A little bit of WD-40 to the bearing does the magic.

Yeah same I have an older model as well. Honestly I can't believe the damn thing still going it's like 20 years old. I just went to use it right now and there was no spin on the bristles so I was like rip time to get a new one. Brushes pulled right off. mine wasn't a hex it was a square but same thing pop the bristles back on work perfect. I got this because consumer reports told me to best God damn purchase I ever made

If you don't have a hex or allen key, @0:32 sec you can see 6 clips (3 on the front and 3 on the back) that you can undo to separate the black part from the transparent. Remove the screw holding in the center brush and pluck off the white male hexagonal shaft to use to get it spinning again. Should mention I had to spray some WD40 on the screw holding in the center brush the loosen it.

Totally worked!Needed to use ALOT of force,and when it "unfroze",it may a big noise and I thought I had broken it.Nope!Spun quite freely,and now brushes are spinning great!Don't forget to clean 'filter' area directly above the brushes on the front of the machine,as this is where they get the suction to spin.
@spike7703 Жыл бұрын
getting ready to give it a try now. success, i had to go a little bit further once I removed the brush assembly i snapped the 6 tabs and separated the clear cover that holds in the 5 brushes. cleaned all the brushes removed a buildup of dog hair from the clear cover and removed 4 of the 5 brushes. they just lift off the base. after cleaning reassembled and yes took a 9mm allen socket and turned the drive shaft (it was stuck) snapped everything back together and it works great once again,,, thanks for your video.

My Crosswave just arrived today and kzbin.infoUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g I was on my way out but decided to stay home as I was excited to try it out. We have a large area consisting mostly of wood but have some tile and marble areas. What a breeze it was not having to use different cleaning products and mops and I could just go right through the house on different surfaces without even vacuuming.I’ve used Bona on my hardwood for years and although it looked pretty good I know it wasn’t clean. The bottoms of my feet attested to that. I’ve also used a Hoover Floormate about once a month and although it did clean the floor more than just spraying and spreading Bona around weekly, it just seemed to put too much water out on the hardwood.I LOVE the results I got today. You can see the water does go on the floor, but it’s suctioned up well and dries so quickly. I even used it on the Marble and it looks fantastic. No streaks with the Multi surface cleaner and it feels clean. My ceramic floors in the Bathrooms are very textured and pitted and they look so much cleaner. I even tried it on a couple of area carpets and it worked great. (Not for deep cleaning though)Now the disgusting part - The dirty water reservoir! It’s hard to believe there was so much dirt on my floors. Yikes! The unit is also very easy to use, gets close to baseboards, swivels to get under things and is light. Wish the cord was positioned better but that’s easily remedied by attaching it to the holder. I’m hoping this is going to be the answer to a clean house and feet! Haha. So far I’m super impressed!
@Sidicas9 ай бұрын
Also there is a little white latch handle holding the clear front suction piece on under the dirty water tank. You can unlock that latch, pull the clear white suction piece off and below it in the front is a little vent that is the suction vent for your brushes and you can clean that out and get more brush power !!

For those who DONT have a 9mm Allen wrench. What I did was I unscrewed the middle brush(there’s a tiny little screw on the opposite side from the white hex piece that fits in the hole, it’s on the bristle side ) from the housing and then took the back piece that fits in the hex shape whole from the brush housing, attached it to a 5/16 socket and gently went back and forth. It was scary at first but I made sure to put the entire thing in and slowly went back and forth and heard clicking but then it eventually went smooth!! This video was super helpful! (Do this at your own risk, I don’t know how much pressure the little white piece can handle but mine was sooo stuck and took some serious torque and it didn’t damage anything at all) cheers! 🎉

Thanks, James, but worth noting, folks....if you force that gear drive with an allen wrench (or whatever) where the brushes connect and turn and you hear plastic gears grinding, STOP what you're doing.....you really are grinding the plastic gears together! Open everything up where those gears are (8 phillips screws to get at it) and then pull out the housing where the gears and bearings are. Use some Liquid Wrench or WD-40 on the first bearing you see it to loosen it up. If it spins freely, that one is good. I found the one deep inside was the rusty corroded bearing. Soak it with your Liquid Wrench and THEN try working the gears with your allen wrench. (didn't have a 9mm, so I carefully used a 3/8 and it barely fit). Just be mindful as to how you took everything apart and be sure to put it all back together the same way. Not hard to do, but just be careful doing it. It sure beats buying a new machine. There are several videos here on YT that show you how to take apart your machine.

Just ordered a hex bit socket set, as I didn't have any Allen wrenches for that size. Edit: Mine is working again: This may be common knowledge for others, but I find the brushes don't turn unless the "handle release" is used. Unlike a vacuum cleaner, where the brush starts turning the moment you turn it on, the Spin Scrub brushes don't turn until you also use the "handle release".
@martinroy6993 Жыл бұрын
This is a very important post about handle release. The brushes WON'T spin until you release the handle.
