When my grandparents passed, us relatives sold their home to a young couple in their early 20s. They are now running a farm with animals and crops (my grandparents only used it as their second home as their place to relax away from the city). I heard the young couple whispering about a bunch of fanstastic plans and they sounded so excited, but was about to leave due to seeing a bunch of older people in their 40-50s who wanted to use the real estate as their summer stay and basically not be there for the rest of the year. I told my parents and my aunt and we all decided that the best thing would be to sell for less to the young couple and basically do some good for the community (all year customers to the different stores, their future kids in the local school, plus granting the wish our loved ones dreamed of- for the place to be used and come alive again and taken well care of as they had done in their youth). Many years later, the young couple are still there and they have a few kids and the place looks fantastic. Young people are needed in the countryside and if it can be enouraged that’s a positive. I’m still at uni. (studying law), but dream of living in the country when I’m older. / Scandinavian

Back in 1980 when my new wife and I had been married for a year she told me what she thought a farmer did. A crop is like a baby. You plant seeds watch it grow feed it keep it clean give it every option to be all it can be. But unlike children you can cut their head off when they are grown

Great episode. So refreshing to see a young couple working the land. Agribusiness is the heart of America. Independent farmers are the backbone of America. Keep unfriendly countries out, limit or eliminate breaks to monolithic corporations, and allow these young entrepreneurs room to thrive, so they can continue to pass it on to the next generation.

Laura isn't afraid to get her hands dirty with almost any job. I love how you two work together so darn well. Your fathers must be beaming with pride, I certainly would be except when it came to lifting that tire - that's a two-person job. Grant maybe could do it but at what price to his back, save the back, you'll be happy later in life for darn sure.

Valuable Safety Recommendation - For that "widowmaker" Hi-Lift jack, I suggest that you bend the straight handle about 5 degrees at its base (where it bolts into the jack). That will keep you from breaking your hand/thumb if you have your hand on top of the vertical post and the jack slips a notch. I broke my thumb that way when I was working on a summer job for the USDA Ag Research when I was going to school at Washington State University. One of the spring-loaded pins did not engage the vertical post properly. The pin slipped out of the hole and the handle rotated upward at the speed of light and smashed my thumb between the steel handle and the steel vertical post. Surgery followed. I grew up on a farm. We had several of these jacks on the farm and Dad insisted that all the handles be bent slightly so that a hand can't be smashed between the jack handle and the vertical post. I sure wish that jack at the USDA job had a bent handle.

I have to congratulate you both with your video blogs which are very addictive for me. The episode in Europe at the tractor factory made me burst out laughing (in a good way) it was like two small children in a candy store! I could actually feel your excitements whilst viewing. Farming was never like this many years ago 60, when I was aloud to drive an old grey Massy Fergison tractor on school holidays on the dairy farm my uncle worked on! Bottom line you both are teaching an old man new trick!

Don't know how far that is for you, but if you're able to make it, you should look up Pete from Just A Few Acres farm. He's a KZbinr visiting from Ithaca NY and is one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. Seeing two of the best farming KZbinrs (and Grant) together would be a thrill. I to have a Polaris Ranger and I use it a lot. If I want to get something heavy in the back I put the winch rope over the roof on something tip the box and pull it up on to the bed. Then put box down. My electric wheelchair is 80kg, two ramps and winch it on. My ranger is a bit older than yours 2017. Here in Scotland the winter roads get salt put on them a lot. So rust can be a problem😀. M

Hey Laura nice video on next time you lift something that heavily get a back belt it'll help your kidneys it's and you'll feel better it'll hold everything in. By the way don't injure your back whatever you do because it's not the same after you mess up your back trust me I know. By the way I suggested since you got so much wind why don't you put wind turbines in you don't need a very big one like a 10 kilowatt at your farm house that and some solar on your big barn. Just thinking
