I remember in one of your really early videos you mentioned that nailing the ADSR of sounds is what separates an amateur producer from an intermediate or advanced producer - and you were so right.

The Distressor has such a nice feeling when you get that bouncy knocking feeling right. I think that's what makes a good plugin, when it gets you that feeling of "yeah that's doing the thing"

Choosing the right kick plays a big roll in production. Sometimes you want a really sustained kick and sometimes you might go for a really toppy kick which is snappy. It all depends what theme/vibe you are going for All will glue together with your sample selection. Your ears will get better with production and the more you create. Craft your sound and don’t be a lazy producer/ghost producer like most people out there that go quiet after that first “hit” Get the key of the track and find a kick in that key (I.e F Major(F kick)

adjust your ADSR to make bass sound right for its context, use compressor's attack-release times to make it even better. And color it even nicer with your fanciest 3rd party polish to taste. Did I catch you right? It's amazing how advanced topics horseshoe back to the basics, very meaningfully. Reminds of me house of kush vid on actually hearing your compressors. Great!

@@hygro9625 🙌 yes perfect! It always is the basics. Could you hear the difference or was I super picky
@chief26322 ай бұрын
@@ZenWorld I definitely heard the difference. After you made those couple of tweaks the bass was a lot tighter and locked in with the drums

A great way to test is to do the "toilet" trick which is essentially like hearing a track from the club restroom. Just simply using an EQ to isolate just the low end. Then you can hear if it's grooving .
@ZenWorld3 ай бұрын
@@18Hands I’m gonna try that out next time. Drink Morelos till I throw up and check the bass Haha

@@ZenWorld I call this the “smoke break test,” where you apply a low-pass filter to the master track. Imagine you’re outside the club having a smoke with your friends. If the bass coming through from inside makes you want to immediately stub out your cigarette and head back in to party, then you know the bass is spot on. 😁

Would leaving a small gap between bass notes improve things so that you get a small amount of release (subject to the release not being so fast it causes clicks) ?
@wasabi3332 ай бұрын
Aw, why did you cut out the part you're talking about the people who say they only use the native plugins are trying to mislead us? Love the message though!
