@@christophervanzetta from the circumstances explained in the video, the viewer and friend bought the parts from Amazon to build two systems with the same specs. And Greg's theory about someone returning a defective CPU to Amazon and warehouse staff resealing and selling it again, unfortunately for the viewer, is pretty common place.

Great work. Had to troubleshoot a Ryzen R7 5700G System last week and it was a terrible experience. No post. But the BIOS should support it. Swapped a GPU and CPU from my personal PC into it, tried it unsuccessfully wiith several displays. No post. Frustration. We gave up for the day. And then it dawned on me. Even after watching the whole "Fix or Flop"--Playist... have we tried resetting CMOS? Wie did not. And it worked. Posted like a champ. Why did I not try that first?!! AAAAAARgh!

I would double check the power settings for the cpu in the bios, many folks bricked their systems because the MB manufactures were defaulting the OC (P1 and P2) settings to max. Newer bios updates have been released that auto fixes this issue but either way that should be checked out thoroughly or the owner will back to a cooked cpu in short order.

I was browsing PSU testers the other day and saw some affordable one's around $20 and possibly a better unit from Thermaltake for $45. But I was like, where's the one Greg uses and had to hunt. I was shocked to see it retails for $590 from the manufacturer PassMark, my mind is blown. It comes with a software suite that can monitor via USB to a laptop so this is shop level tech from a bit of an inconspicuous device! I'm really impressed!

00 is such a weird Q Code... I had that on my x570 Dark Hero with my 5900X and buddy of mine had the exact same issue of 00. Chip wasn't dead in either case and in my specifically I kept getting a BSOD in regards to memory regardless of which Ram kit I used with the DOCP or manual OC to the specs of the ram. Ended up switching to a ASRock X570 Taichi RE and both kits worked just fine. Haven't had a single issue.

We didn't do too much with the computers other than verify details like data status or physical damage, but I 100% thought the same fan model that hit your hand was not spinning multiple times, so don't feel too embarrassed!

A 3080 draws about 350W under full load. One 8 pin PCI-e cable is rated for 150W. The PCI-E slot on the motherboard is rated for 75W. That meast you need 2x 8 pin PCI-E cables to run a 3080 with no issues. It will work with the daisy chain cabel but it mite burst up in flames at some point.
@eliadbu
@eliadbu Жыл бұрын
Assuming he doesn't has some chineseium psu ( I think he does not considering his build) The daisy chained cable is fine. In electricity when calculating the amount of power you can pass on a wire it depends on wire gauge, material and voltage. If the wire are thick enough it can handle much more than 300 watts. And the 150W spec, is very conservative, thus why some manufacturers use thick enough wire and daisy chained cable with no issues. So no worries for bursting in flames.

I work in electronics repair, and we get a ton of gaming PCs in from our business customers. Most of the PCs are Skytech PCs, and are either on AM4, or 10th/11th gen. Before working at the place I'm at now, I've never actually seen a CPU die, or worked on a system where the CPU was actually dead. I've salvaged PCs from burned homes/apartments, picked the up from dumpsters, and have had several PCs that were very aged (Pentium 2/3, 1st gen Athlons), but never have I seen so many cpus dead. Not a single one of these systems had dead CPUs, but somehow regular PC users are just killing CPUs by using them. Almost every dead Intel PC that we get is a dead CPU (10th and 11th gen i5), and almost every AMD system that we get has a dead motherboard (aside from the 5600X/5600G systems which also seem to have a really high failure rate of CPUs). very odd times we're in.

I know that it may be a lot of extra work but I would love to see a spinoff of this where the audience gets to vote on what they think the issue is. Break the pc repair into two parts. The first part would be the inspection and then audience voting. The following week, have the repair and reveal which percentage of the audience was right. Either which way, this is honestly one of my top content supplies. I love this and yes.....I have been watching all of the way through to the end Greg. 😳

Ok I am at @6:00 and if I were trouble shooting this the thing I'd look at is 1) is anything shorted to ground and 2) is it a modular power supply and did they not plug plug the motherboard power cable in all the way into the power supply and it worked its way loose so it "looks" like it is plugged in but it isn't. Ok hitting play to see what it ends up being :) CPU! Wow. So the CPU itself was melted and shorted internally. Very cool
