Hands down one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen on KZbin. The resurrection of a skid steer that had a tree growing out of it. Gives me hope for the future of America. Show them how it’s done, young man!!!

Had a 610 for 14 years. That extra lever under the seat is “change speed” lever. It came with the backhoe, fork lift, basic bucket, high volume bucket ( for snow or wood chips), tires were filled with solid foam. I added an electronic ignition kit, extended battery cables out back so I could easily add a charger, made plexiglass side windows that flexed into a wooden frame for winter ( that was enough coverage as some heat rose up from the engine and the wind was blocked). I learned to weld so I could add/repair teeth to the backhoe and basic bucket. Found a Jeep snow blade for $40, welded it to a quick attach plate and used it for my snow plow. Never again did I have to take a pick axe to the snow boulders the highway crew left me. Amazing to keep up with 2 foot snowfalls, just push and pile! I did a ton of work on my 20 acres over the years, reshaped the land around the house, dragged logs out of the woods, moved bins of firewood ( I figured 1000 pounds on the forks), dug foundations for two outbuildings, improved drainage, etc etc. Helped my neighbors down the dirt road on their projects. Sold it when I moved, and I often wish I had it for so many lifting jobs and now have to pay for any snow removal.

Kudos to you dude! You did all the right things! except you missed pulling the choke out, so that's why it took so long to start. I'm sure you figured that out by now. You have a lot of good skills. I have a 610 and it took me a long while to learn it, learn how to adjust points, etc etc. Its a good machine. The drive chains will break though when you push it hard with a lot of weight in the bucket. I'm buying a #40 chain from USA Roller Chains and Sprockets right now...strongest one I could find. I put an electric fuel pump couple yrs ago. Now to replace fuel hoses with custom bent lines. I recommend adding the expensive oil additive (like Prolong), that's what I do. This engine will live forever. Mine still runs great. I just have to blow out the carb like twice a season bc I think the paper gasket (or bits of rubber hose) get past the filter and clog the orfices. Runs great everytime though if you keep the points adjusted. I can send you the service manual if you want it.

I have fixed something similar. my dad had this old 1987 bobcat 741. I fixed it with tons of issues with the hydraulic system. It didn’t move until I flushed the whole system and rebuilt the right drive motor. I’m only 13.

I owned a 610 for years! Been kicking myself for years for selling it. Now I'm using a 763 that is not half the machine my 610 was. The only thing on the 610 was the air cooled engine. If you use it in brush a lot, the air passes will get plugged and it will over heat. There is a heat sensor on a head bolt that will shut the engine off if it over heats. Sometimes people take them off, so be sure that sensor is on it and working. Good machine that will do a lot of work!

I have the same machine, M-610, that I bought new in 1975. Still have it and still running strong. The only thing I’ve done to the engine besides points and spark plugs is head gaskets. Those Wisconsin VH 4D engines are great. I just repainted it and you can still get the original decals for it online.

Love videos!! Since your at harbor freight already buy some grade 70 chains and 2 ratcheting chain binders please. 2” strap won’t work if it’s over a sharp edge. It will slowly slice the strap and cops can give you a ticket for it. DOT Tip (Anything over 10,000lbs on a trailer for equipment needs 4 points of securement. Anything under 10,000lbs needs 2 points of securement.) just an FYI if you ever get pulled over by county or state patrol. Let’s say you are hauling a mini excavator weights less than 10,000lbs you will need your 2 point securement AND you need to secure the bucket as DOT says because it’s an “attachment” so that also need to be chained down. Anything that’s an attachment to a piece of equipment also has to be chained down. Like a skid steer bucket, mini excavator buckets. Backhoe front bucket and rear bucket is an attachment. So basically you have to carry (5) grade 70 chains and 5 ratcheting chain binders. If you don’t know what grade chains are and the weight rating of chains just do some googling. Grade 70 is your standard DOT transport chain. You can get away with 3/8 chains and 3/8-1/2 chain binders. With that you would be set for life. (Working load) limit of (1) 3/8 grade 70 chain is 6,600lbs.

It was about a 15min drive but yeah. I’ve ripped straps on sharp edges before. It weighs about 4000lb.

I had a 510 that Bobcat couldn't believe . I took the data plate off and showed them. I had the Kohlar 2 cylinder. They make repower kits with Honda as the source. That is a wet clutch with chains in oil and a variable drive belt driven.I used it to death but it just got too old for parts. I bought a 257 track Cat with ASV undercarriage. I got tired of flat tires. I like Cat with the inline engines and easy acess to the motor. Bobcat was sold to Korea a long time ago. Good Luck. I was amased you got that started.

Ohh trust me. There are lots of videos I make that just don’t make it to KZbin because the project ends up being too far gone. Or I’ll bring something a long ways and something catastrophically fails. lol I get burnt a lot but I don’t post those because then everyone wants me to rebuild or restore whatever it may be and I just don’t have the patience or interest to do all that. If I fully restored everything I brought home I would still be making videos on the 1980 scout I brought home awhile ago and to me that’s just boring. I like keeping it fresh with new stuff
