Hi Vince When i was a kid in the 60s i had a toy train ( the American western type) that worked the same way as Dougal. As i understand it when the toy hits something, the two wheels underneath work like a differential on a car, and when resistance is met drive swops over from one wheel to the other, and as the wheels can spin on an axis the toy takes off in a different, random direction including reverse. My train had flashing lights in the front and cab and was probably made by the same company. Ohh the memories!...i still remember me and my dad (long since passed) playing with that train on the rug on Christmas morning. Cheers! Chris

I have a 'Laughing Bag' toy, a bag with a clown's face on it, and when you press a button it laughs for a few seconds. In the bag is a little mini record-player, almost identical inside to your Jukebox toy, except there is only one record (of the laughing) which is permanently glued in. The mechanism is SO similar that I'm sure it was made by the same company as your toy.

Vince! Don't sell yourself short! The Dougal fix was brilliant. Using body filler and painting it almost the exact color really looked better than I thought it could be. I say go back and paint a little more around the dog to make it even more realistic.

Love your videos, just a note: WD 40 is a protectant (anti rust). The lubricant (volatile) will evaporate leaving a coating behind to prevent rust. It only lubricates temporarily. So using on gears, pivots and contacts will actually cause everything to bind up later or not conduct electricity. Cheers, Geoff

Vince try adding baking soda to super glue to make an instant dry cement. Just use superglue like normal then while holding the parts together sprinkle some baking soda over it to have it dry an harden instantly. You can also slowly build up missing parts/ holes. Best part is its sand able after about 1 minute. I have used this on serval plastics an it always works. Even on broken car dash panel clips.

i have a small lcd game that just didnt want to work right until i tore it down entirely and went to town cleaning it, so yeah, those cheap preinstalled button cells can really leave a trace edit: ive got the fisherprice music box turntable that works off the same idea as that bank and its shocking how loud they managed to make them and how loud they continue to be even as the plastic ages and becomes brittle, to clean the cone for the music box it needs to be pulled out of a glued position and it makes its age and fragility known while doing so, but yeah speed control on some of the older toys was just a bit lax/nonexistent so they sounded strange

The main issue with the electric motors is usually dried grease on the shaft/bearing. IPA clean re-apply grease should fix. I recently had to apply lithium grease to a cd tray rails. I cut a few tiny pieces of sponge into cubes and used tweezers to pick up the pieces to swab the grease coating around like a mini-applicator. I thought it worked out well and really coated the surfaces optimally. It's the old "a little goes a long way."

In the UK, back in maybe the 50's to early 60's, we got Coco pops, and they were around for a few years. Then they were re-named Co Krispies about 65 for some reason. They vanished off the market some time later, to re appear (in the 80's IIRC) as Coco Pops again. When the Coco Krispies name appeared here, they had a free giveaway in them of plastic locomotive models, mostly I think of US prototypes- did you get them over there too? Some were really nice models, both steam and diesels.
