I bought a 2016 BMW M4 F82 which had been in a serious accident, causing some pretty bad damage. Ive bought a BMW M3 front end which supposedly is the same as M4 but later found there was a few differences. It seems the newer the cars the more complicated it becomes to rebuild them. I decide to tackle the full dashboard in this video!

tbh this is a normal process for BMW, Mercedes and Audi cars from 2015 and on, Mercedes even from 2006 and on. Still, noone knows everything so yea, props to whoever told him :)

I’m sure the DSG oil change process is pretty similar when it comes to temperature and running through the gears only thing is it’s simpler to fill with most filters and caps under the battery’s.

On most common cars, the lights, wipers and even some power window functions (auto closing at rain by ex) are set up by the same ecu, so it narrows the diagnostic field, then you just have to think what part have you changed that’s on the electronic scheme of the faulty system! Also is the reason auto closing windows might have let you down on a rainy day once, with no apparent reasons. Needs the light switch on auto for it to work on most cars. Which doesn’t make sense but it’s on the same module And worse case scenario, if you know nothing about this, just try and error from the easiest to the hardest, don’t forget to light up a candle for hopes to find with the firsts easy tricks lol 😂

I think the airbag light will be because you started the car while the airbag was blown. Even though anew one now fitted the light stays on, think you need to plug it in and clear the fault then when start it again should stay off.
@andrewbromley6399
@andrewbromley6399 3 жыл бұрын
You may need to get new seat belt tensioners but even if they are fine you will need to connect it up to a computer to clear the airbag lights, Recently did this on a seat swap from seats that where in a crash, Also if its got active headrest they also might need changing but only getting it plugged in and clearing the old codes will show you the new ones as to what needs changing

Airbag light is on because you probably need a new positive battery cable as blow device has been activated and it's part of the SRS system. Also, ACSM module (SRS) will have crash telegram data hardwritten to it. Some places can swap out and recode eeprom but normally you would replace ACSM and recode to car. Module is under armrest.

Also Mat, as for the restraint system showing up you need a professional tool to clear the code, simple tools won't work because it's a safety feature. If the sign comes on and you change the part you have to delete the code!

Restraint light is still on because BMW uses a blow off mechanism in the pretentioners that the seat belts clip into rather than in the seat belts themselves. It’s similar to the battery cable system you replaced. You could have got to them when you had the seats out.
