I'm so glad you posted this! My hair is bleached blonde with my natural medium brown roots. I'm about to use Lush Caca Rouge to dye it orange, but bought espresso overtone as a backup in case it looks horrible! And I was thinking about diluting it so that at least some of the orange can come through. So so so glad you just did something pretty similar so I know it will work. Thank you!

Thanks for watching! I'm actually touching up my hair right now and used another thinner conditioner to dilute it. It works really great that way! Plus it gives you the option to control how intense you want the color or you can just create your own color. Let me know if you have any questions once you give it a try.

Thank you! I’m so happy with the way it turned out. It was also so much easier to use than toner. I tried using a liquid toner but was still left with orange. 😂 I need to email Overtone, maybe they can at least put me in PR for being in their ad. 🤔 We shall see.

Hmmm... I think it could, they have launched a few colors specifically for brown hair. At the moment they have red, purple, and rose gold for brown hair. What I'm not sure of is how well it would work to cover greys, I still have to test out Espresso Brown on my mom's greys. Maybe I can have a follow-up review with my mom as my model!

It looks great. Can I ask how you styled your hair. Mine is the same length. Just got it cut. Hate it but I cant seem to get it cute an wavy. Bleached it. And its dry an flat. Aka lifeless. So I'm curious what you did with yours?

Thank you! My hair is naturally wavy/curly-ish, but I think I actually let my hair air dry in twists. I made a few twists and pinned them down with a bobby pin. Once my hair was dry then I would use my fingers to break the twists apart. My bangs were flat ironed, that’s a must otherwise they curl up. 😂

I am super excited to add the vibrant blue. tried the espresso color a few months back and it’s just too red for my hair, I think it’s pulling out brassy highlights. 😒

It’s your issue is red then try green to neutralize the red. 😊 I’ve actually been adding a big of yellow that I had left offer into my mixture since my hair looked reddish once the color faded. Now it’s fading into a more golden color.

I have same exact color you had before coloring. The upper half is dyed a reddish color lower was bleached and rose gold/pink. I want to bring out red again snd have pink and coral lower part can you advise a color to use on whole head since have no idea what I'm doing?

Hmmm... I’m afraid that Overtone wouldn’t have one color that would work for giving you a red to coral fade. I would probably go for either Red for Brown Hair or Ginger, maaaybe Ginger could fade to coral if you dilute it with a white conditioner but I’m not 100% sure if it would work that way. I would suggest emailing Overtone since they have more experience with the way their colors work, I can only comment on colors I’ve used.

This is the exact video I was looking for! I currently have overtone vibrant orange hair and am wanting to go back natural once it starts fading. I was worried about how their brown would look over the faded orange

You should be just fine! 😄 Vibrant orange is a great color. That’s probably my favorite Overtone shade that I’ve tried.

No damage since it doesn’t use a developer. It’s just a color depositing conditioner.

I have used Olaplex 3 and wasn’t the hugest fan so I didn’t repurchase, but I do have the Sally’s version. I’m just waiting a little longer before I use it again. 😊

I have the same length hair as you and I’m trying to figure out if I need the full 8oz of color or if I could get away with the travel size..... do you think the travel size is big enough for your length of hair??

You will be able to get about 4-5 uses out of the regular sized tub, at least that’s what I usually get since I only touch up about twice a month. The sample size would be good for one or two uses.

How well did it fade?was it still an orange color after washing it?

It did fade to a reddish orange the first time but the more I used this mixture, the better it would fade. You can see how it faded on my Instagram or on my videos this was filmed.

Did the blue help in the long run? Thinking of doing this color, but I don’t like the warmth. Hear it fades very orange. Did the blue help prevent that?

The blue was mainly to color correct the orange I had in my hair. The Espresso Brown would still fade orange but it wasn’t as bright as what I had before.

How many washes does it last? I have platinum blonde and kind of want to dip my toe into the brunette life but want it to fade without bleaching again afterwards.

It depends on how often you wash your hair. It won’t completely fade back to platinum blonde though.

I can in fact totally fade back by using a clarifying shampoo. Mine went back after vibrant purple.

I wonder if diluting the Brown and blue mix would darken and ashen a bad bleach job lol

Just depends on how the bleached hair looks. If it’s more yellow, then I would go in with a purple to neutralize that but if the bleached hair is more orange like mine was then go with blue to neutralize.
