Wow that was one reluctant rim removal persistence payed off as far as the junk accumulating in the yard can not be your fault it happens here as well and you do not live near here. I was planning on using the heat gun on my quad but I think I will try the ATF. Thanks Nils.
@NilsKall
@NilsKall 2 жыл бұрын
Yes that rim sure was stuck! But I got it in the end! Ha! Regarding the junk, if it isn’t me, I really don’t understand how it accumulate if it isn’t me. Perhaps NASA will release info on that subject next year? Heat gun can work, it depends on the plastic but ATF oil is simple to start with.

Not sure if mine is the same model but the wheel is held in place with a washer and circlip and nothing else except muck and rust! After propping the machine up and stabilising, the first job is to remove the above items a job of only a few seconds. The next stage is the wheel as it is now "free"" on the spindle. Generally, it will NOT move. Lubricate the spindle back and front - I used WD40 but you still need a rubber headed mallet to gently tap the wheel which eventually will free it enough to be able to pull it off. Before putting back on WD40 the spindle which will help but it will still dry out very rapidly and you will have the same aggro next time! Some recommend leaving th espindle to soak overnight before trying to remove. This really is only necessary to replace inner tube or tyre mostly when punctured - at this point I take it to a professiuonal, NOT being a masochist!
@NilsKall
@NilsKall 5 ай бұрын
Yeah it sounds like the same model and experience….It is a real pain and no amount of soaking helped me, I had to use the welding method and it might not be suitable for everyone.

Tons of work done to the mower Nils. Welding stuff on the rim? Seems like my type of solution :D Good job o nthe fixes. Thanks for posting
@NilsKall
@NilsKall 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I actually had to make a decision to make a multi part video because the editing was getting out of hand. The welding solution is a typical “if it works it works” thing. I didn’t want to heat the axle since it was going inside the hydrostatic transmission.

Nils, thank you for providing these great instructional videos! I just bought a Rider 16 just over a week ago. Thanks to your videos I was able to check out the common problem areas before buying it, find two grease fittings to lube, and get a general idea of basic maintenance. I could see there was a slight oil leak on this rider but bought it anyway, since it appears to have been used lightly. (No broken plastic, seat had only a small tear, pedal rubber had little to no wear.) After a thorough cleaning I pinpointed the leak to the valve cover gasket on the B&S 15.5 hp engine. I was wondering if you have done such a repair and documented on your KZbin channel? I haven' been able to find one yet. Thanks again, Mike
@NilsKall
@NilsKall 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Great to hear that you find the videos helpful and even more great to hear that you found a good rider! I have changed the valve gasket on o 15.5 but I didn’t document it. I did however film how to set the valve lash and in doing so I had to remove the valve cover. Perhaps it could be useful for you? Go to 3.14 in this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJSuq2ObmbKqi6M Best regards Nils

@@NilsKall Thanks, I just watched the segment you linked. I was initially concerned that the engine would have to come out because of how close the valve cover comes to the steel plate behind the muffler. But now I see that the frame surrounding the motor (including that plate) is removable. I thought it was a welded part of the chassis. Whew! Thanks again.

So I purchased a Husqvarna rider 155 last year (Indiana, USA). Have been restoring it slowly since. It has 16x6.5x8 tires. Can I change them to 18x6.5x8 to get a higher cutting height?
@NilsKall
@NilsKall 3 ай бұрын
Hi! The 155 is a good model! Regarding the tires, fitting 18 inch could give you 2 problems, rubbing (both front fenders and at full turn) and excessive wear on the transmission. With that said, I put 17x7.5x8 tires on a HQ rider and that worked great! I had to notch a small part of the cutting deck but otherwise no problem. Have you adjusted your deck height to max level?

The heat method works better you have to use direct heat from a torch of some sort and not indirect heat from a heatgun
@NilsKall
@NilsKall Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I don’t have a real torch (with acetylene and oxygen) so had to use the welder. The torch gun I have doesn’t heat it up enough. I think this wheel was worse than normally because it had been stuck for so long. Thanks for watching!

Do you think that its wort of getting rider 13 with broken motor. Need to buy new motor to it. Price is like pay what you feels like. It needs also other work.
@NilsKall
@NilsKall 2 жыл бұрын
I think it is the best non commersial riding lawnmower so yes, it sounds like a good deal. However, sometimes the spare parts and the work involved adds up and it can be smarter to just get a working HQ rider instead. But then again, the price for a working HQ rider is quite high. If you find a cheap working motor then go for it!

Regarding kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWa3Xn19itBmf80 I have a problem with the tension pully arm that has rusted stuck on the pivot/drive shaft (the pully itself seems ok, and the bearing is smooth) but it cannot engage the belt as the arm it sits on is completely frozen. I've tried greasing it using the grease fitting I found but it seems to far gone and I probably need to disassemble it and possibly change the pully arm (or at least do a thorough clean and remove all the gunk and rust). So after that lengthy explanation, does anyone know of a video or instruction in general how to disassemble this part of the machine to get the pully arm out?
@NilsKall
@NilsKall Жыл бұрын
Haven’t done this myself but I believe you would have to get to move in order to get it out. Have you tried to heat it? If you get it moving the you probably just have to grease it to push the old dirt and hard grease out. It is not a precision bushing in the first place.
