Fixing my reverse lights and installing a backup camera on my 1989 OBS truck!

Thank you my guy. I was looking for this info for a while now. I am doing a whole stereo install on my dad's 89 OBS. The whole set up is very similar to yours. Just needed to get the reverse input signal. Thanks to you I'll be able to complete that.

@@Blakes-Garage Kept saying "Light Green! Light Green!" over and over in my head this morning. Made a small cut in the plastic shielding and made a joint solder of the two cables.

@@spacecityerlan That sounds really difficult from under the dash, but should work! I just used a clamp on T tap.

Not a big fan of T Taps honestly. Compared to the Japanese and Korean vehicles I've solder in the past this Chevy is very wide open and accessible.@@Blakes-Garage

love the list. my reverse lights worked few days ago. however, is there fuse in the fuse box. maybe I blew a fuse . for sure gonna change the switch under the steering wheel.

If you think you may have wiring issues you can check voltage at the wire on that switch to make sure it's working first.

I mounted my cheapo back-up camera under the bumper so it's a bit more hidden, and it took some trouble shooting to find that the pink wire coming off my aftermarket radio was the reverse signal switch. When you buy cheap you get to come up with your own creative solutions I'll tell ya.

I don't really like the look of the camera as is. Maybe I'll figure something else out.

I have the same problem on my 1990 Silverado. Gotta wiggle the shifter to find the spot so the reverse lights turn on. I’m gonna try and pay attention and see what you do to fix it. Thanks

Hello i just hooked up a camera on my obs 92 silverado and the lights kick on when reverse but camera doesnt turn on?

Do you have the right wire for the reverse signal? Also a good ground?
