Fixing not charging /not working Lithium batteries

This one is Aeg 18v li ion battery but the case is the same with any battery.I just replaces 2 of the cells which were dead and the battery is working again.No need to spend hundreds of pounds for new battery just buy 18650 quality cells and replace them.I bought 20 samsung battery cells for 20 £ and just used two to fix 18v 5 amp aeg battery that cost more than 150£.So the fix cost me 2£ instead of spending 150£.Take care and be smart.

Great video! You explained things really well. It's always better to fix things rather than just throwing them out. One thing that could make it even better is if you had a spot welder, but using a soldering iron is still a good option but you just have to be careful

Attempting to solder an 18650 battery is like begging for a Darwin award. It's amazing you didn't trigger a thermal reaction or gas release from the disastrous state of that attempt. I'd also be surprised if you've checked the capacity/current ratings to make sure your battery is balanced... all in all, not good!

You are absolutely right, For the soldering it is hard and dangerous thats why I warned viewers not to overheat them and that it should be used soldering arm that reaches high temperature quick so it can avoid battery overheat and just do the solder quick.For the second part you are wrong, I did check the SOC of the new battery and they were near the existing ones volrage so I left the bms to do its job and after one or two charge discharge it should be balanced properly.Moreoverthe current drawned from the first two batteries (the newly installed) is always higher when discharged and never the same with the rest of the batteries. It is dangerous task but not for someone who knows what he is doing and take necessary precautions. Also thats why I posted it as "not meant for kids".Good luck to everyone who attempt it and take care and be safe. I forgot to say I wanted to show what the problem is and did mention that soldering is one way or do it properly with necessary machine it is up to the viewer.

The batteries are connected in series (2PAIR 5 SERIES) so it won't matter if the new batteries are higher voltage .The only problem could be the bms will read their voltage and stop the battery from charging although the rest cells are not fully charge but after one or two charge discharge bms will sort it out itself.

​@@danielbenchev my point is that neither you, nor anybody, should attempt to solder an 18650 battery directly - warning or otherwise. spot welders are very cheap (under 20E) and whilst there is risk with everything we do, using a spot welder to achieve this is commonly agreed to be the safest choice. my point about battery balancing is not about initial voltage, but actually with the capacity vs current rating (there are many different combinations). all cells within a battery should (at least to my knowledge) have the same capacity and current rating to prevent single cells discharging too quickly which in turn causes early termination of the cell and thus the same problem happening but much quicker. Buying them from aliexpress also more than likely means they are fake samsung cells - this means that the reported capacity/max amps is going to be substantially lower in real terms. On the plus side... it's always good to see people wanting to fix rather than dispose, and appreciate that you took the time to discuss your success.
