Do you really clean with WD-40? I have always heard it was bad in the long run unless you flush out the WD-40 with mineral spirits or lacquer thinner.

Depending on the bad condition and the how old machine, of course it is highly recommended to flush out the WD-40 with mineral spirits. I did not use WD-40 for typewriters after the late 60 and 70's.
