Fixing the fiesta St Idle Issue?

It's round two on trying fo fix the small idle issue I have on my Fiesta ST.
I've had a few suggestions of how I can fix the issue with the idle issue so attempted one.
I bought a new intake pipe with a line which runs to the camcase breather because the filter on the end could be the cause of my idle issue.

definitely a PCV pipe issue. i believe Roose Motorsport do a silicone pipe replacement.. this should sort the issue, would be a good idea to change the TPS at the same time just to cover all areas.

I've ordered a new PCV Pipe & valve so will be getting it done soon. I thought these Fiesta didn't have a TPS? I'm probably wrong aha!

some egr cleaner sprayed through the system may cure alot of these idle problems people are having, it will also clean the idle control valve, or you can take it out and clean it separatley.

Hi again Jay, mines opposite when the car is cold and I tap the throttle the cars revs drop Bellow 800 rpm and nearly stalls but when the car is warm it doesn't do it? Our cars are riddled with annoying problems, worse one for me is still power steering I hate it

Jonathan flynn hey again! That sucks, it’s mad that they can have the same problematic parts/issues which cause like the opposite reactions, mines not majorly bad though just annoying. I still plan to sort my power steering and relocate it but just need to get around to buying the parts and getting it done!

Hi , I just rebuilt my wq 1.6 engine and came across some little issues ,in saying so , I had a idle issue as well . ( this may seem odd but fixed my idle issue) I turned off all lights heater fan and all powered sores then disconnected the battery + and - . Then connected the + and - lead together for 20 minute off the battery. Disconnect the joined + and - When placed the terminal back on the battery ,start the car on idle only until 20 minutes. ( no touching the throttle ) I made sure the temperature is correct and not over heat . Then switch the car off . After this drive lightly for at least 1 hour .This may reset you cpu on the car for the mods . Consider that All diy jobs is at your own risk.

I've heard that the reset (leaving the battery unplugged for 10-20 minus) resets the throttle body and can help with the idle issue. Good idea though, glad it fixe yours!

Mine does the opposite and falls to 500 rpm briefly before going back up any ideas?

These cars tend to have dodgy isles anyways, could be the throttle body or maybe a split in the PCV hose. I’ve got videos coming both so check them out!

Jay - Pcm reset, is it just the case of unplugging negative battery terminal for 10 mins! Just had three people sort out my exhaust.. mounts and brackets and heatshield

Mine has exactly the same issue. When you rev the car and the needle drops it sticks at around 1500 for a sec or two before dropping

There is a pcv pipe behind the inlet and they split and causes arratic idel

I had this issue, when I clean throttle body. You tried disconnect battery over night?

Jan Novák yeah I’ve cleaned the Throttle Body and had the battery disconnected, I’m pretty sure it’s a vacuum leak now! Order the next parts which I think will fix it already!

mine does it only when engine's stone cold. Once it's up to temperature & running it doesn't do it. Common thing apparently these having idle issues. You hose wasn't waste of £75 or whatever it cost you. That'll be much better than what was there before. Hope you sort it mate! class cars I love them so much!

Yeah I've seen a lot of people with issues with the idle on these cars. I think I was just a bit moody that it didn't work - I know the new hose is better than the old one :)

ST GUY yeah I’ve had the TB out and given it a good clean, I’ve notice it sits a little high on startup until it’s warmed up

Hi are them front grills gloss or satin? And did you use lacquer? Thinkin of doing mine n a front splitter.

They're gloss, and yeah they where lacquered I think (they where professionally sprayed just before I bought the car)

kn stock replacement filter,fixes the problem instant. but wont work for you, since you have cone filter on it;-)

what did you use to stick your cover on over your plugs and leads? i too have vents in my st150 and the vents allow water into my cylinders when it rains. i have a real carbon fibre cover but not sure how to secure it down

Mine was on the car when I bought it, but its got some mounts which bolt onto the valve cover somehow. If you DM me on instagram I can take a few pictures for ya

If ST it's turbo and even the manual says Premium. 👍

I have the same issue but the car also has a little bit of a whining/whistling sound. It goes away under throttle. Do you think my issue is the same?

I have the same problem I've just had my pcv hose changed but still doing it. Sounds so annoying while.putting the foot down. Did u fix ur problem? And how?

On my 1.6 focus 2005 the idle problem is 10 x worse! When i come to a stop, the rev counter can drop so low that the car has been know to stall! I have spent around 200 quid over the years but nothing has worked!

JmeJ83 hmm I know the Fiesta aren’t great for idling in general, and most of them dip in revs when they go in reverse. Have you had the PCV valve changed? I changed mine this weekend and now it idles great - video will be up about it at the end of the week.

@@jaymono6498 I had the throttle head cleaned out, i replaced the idle control valve and something else that i can't remember. changed all the spark plugs too, but nothing has worked. Had this problem for a couple of years, but it's very intermittent. Sometimes it's not to bad, then others it's stalling and when i turn the key it stalls again. I can't figure it out 😔

Got a quite similar problem to my mk6 st, when i stop and go to neutral it revs up to about 2500 rpm stays there for some seconds and then go down to around the normal 1000 rpm... got full stock engine without bolt ons...

Annoying isn't it! Apparently it's either this hose line under the intake manifold that has split, or you can contact a Ford garage and they can update the ECU with something to fix it.

JayMono I didnt mind it so hard but I‘m from Germany and need to get Tüv (like mot) soon and I guess I will not get it with this idle... mine is way worse like yours esp. when engine is warmed up :(

I think it stands for positive crankcase ventilation!

Did this issue cause any problems when driving? My car mk6 has a idle issue where when I first start it in the morning it will be below 1k revs or stalls.

I only really had issues when idling over or coming to a stop, mine never stalled though. Some peoples cars cut out when they've put it into reverse with similar issues likes yours. The fix on mine was the PCV hose, it had a massive slit in it causing more air to get into the system and the ECU then added more fuel to try and match it

@@chazma123 Sounds like the hose collapsed and split! get that changed and it should idle a lot better. I've got a video of me changing mine on my channel, with links of videos I used to help me :)

My st150 has also just started having this problem, cleaned throttle body and I've sprayed brake cleaner between the Inlet but I can't find a vaccum leak at all 😔 but it's stopping the car crackling and just doesn't feel right driving it becsuse the revs don't drop when coming off the throttle. Cars just hit 50k

That sucks! It might be the PCV hose thats either split or collapsed causing issues. Thats what I'm changing next!

Yeah thats annoying, apparently when these where released they had a general Idle issue due to the ECU. Apparently Ford had to call cars in to fix an ECU issue. With yours being such low milage that could potentially be the issue. Hope you find out!

duane richardson cleaned it in a previous video, didn’t fix it. It was and air leak and have fixed the problem, video soon!

Hi all just wondering if any one knows my issue, I have a noise around the inlet manifold area possibly the pcv hose, it's like a blowing sound or whhooo sound when I rev the engine and driving ,the higher the revs the louder it gets, cheers

Sounds like it might be the PVC hose. But difficult to tell without popping the inlet manifold off!

joachim vind it’s not a big problem at all :) more annoying than anything, but its making the car have less MPG than it should have. Also if it’s a vacuum leak then parts deffo need replacing.

Just found this on a forum, maybe this will help? "Quite a common thing, best way to fix is to replace the throttle cable completely. Only takes 5 mins and makes a world of difference.
