From a non-BTAS fan: After looking at some reference picture i think that black is definitely more accurate, but I much prefer the dark blue. We've had so many black Batmobiles, the blue is just nice and refreshing.

Originally I thought this set would've been best in black. However, after seeing your combination of black with the top all in dark blue is amazing. You struck gold with that idea. It perfectly replicates the animation style and is now 100% the way that I'm gonna do mine. Honestly, it's how it should have been done.

the problem is lego needs more a darker blue closer to an indigo/black to make it more accurate the black is good but even the kenner toy was slightly grey

Two things: One) I don't know, I mean the black looks better, but... I don't know, I feel like the blue suits it a little bit more. Like the size of an atom better. I think both work with their own pros and cons. I like the blue, because it's different from every other Lego Batmobile, and BTAS is the only theme that can technically get away with it in this colour.

Dark blue is accurate to the series. It's probably because of the lighting in the show, but the car is blue. For accuracy, dark blue is the right choice. For style, either color works pretty well.

It depends on what you want to be accurate to, the lore or the art. In the universe of BTAS it *is* black. It is a fact said within the show that it is. However, the art style makes it appear blue. Its the way the show depicts shadows and lighting. I think either black or blue *and* black are valid choices. However I think the pure blue of the set is the wrong choice. In the show it is very rarely (if ever) depicted as entirely blue.

I prefer the blue one. I think it's too bright for the Batmobile, but apparently black makes it look very cheap (maybe because the other Batmobiles are mostly made of black), and the mixed colors in the second half look tacky from some angles. That's just my feeling. The official blue looks very stylish. I support the official color! (I have watched almost every episode of TAS, including the 00:30 episode!)

It has the dark blue tint in official art and toys from the early 90s. It is show accurate - the color it is in the animation doesn't work for a toy.

Black is the accurate color, simple as that. I don't care that every other batmobile is black, they shouldn't make an 89 batmobile dark grey to be different just like they shouldn't make an BTAS batmobile dark blue

This is how it should’ve been. Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice to have a blue Batmobile for a change, but it comes across like they looked at a picture of the Batmobile in the show without the context and said “oh I guess his car is blue in this cartoon” without knowing that it’s black and the blue shading. And even if it’s an artistic choice, I still think black just looks a little bit better.

Personally I liked the choice to make it dark blue in the official set, it makes it unique and lets it stand out from all the other Batmobiles they ever made. But I gotta say it does look much more sleeker in pure black, it's such a great build and it looks better in black. Do LEGO not do variant sets? They could that for this, just duplicate the set, add a "-B" to the set's number or something and call it a different edition

I think the animated Batman batmobile is actually supposed to be black. However, for animated style and purposes to be able to show off the vehicle in more detail and less of a large black block, blue was used. I just rewatched "Heart of Ice" episode and the batmobile looks blue pretty much like this new Lego set. Instead of changing the batmobile to black, I think the Batman figure should actually have the blue added to it instead. Again, in the animated series, Batman is depicted stylistically as blue in color.. which I prefer As the color scheme looks more old school Batman that had blue, grey and yellow with smaller bits of black detail. However, I like the other detail improvements you made to the batmobile which may be worth doing to the original blue version of the Lego set. Like the more detailed and accurate manifolds coming out of the upper front sides.. presumably out of whatever front mounted engine is under the front hood. Kind of dig the 2-tone version u played with. It kind of look more right in both black and blue. The only other detail I think may need to be added, if possible, would be the red tail lights that I believe are at the upper tips of the rear side fins/wings. May not be able to replace it with decent Lego pieces. So, perhaps a red decal to indicate this might be better.

I saw this set at Target today and was very disappointed with the color as well as the price considering the amount of pieces. However seeing that you built it in black is very satisfying and annoying at the same time. Its annoying because lego SHOULD have made it black. They could have used any other batmobile design to make dark blue. But no. They had to ruin the Animated Series Batmobile.

As good as that all black custom looks, I'll have to just settle for the blue one. Highlighting the black one with the dark blue pieces looks sick tho. Now I'm wishing they made it black to begin with and gave us the dark blue highlights as stickers or prints to really sell the cartoon shaded look.

I'm just disapointed they made some blue batmobile... like, why? Original was black. I was so excited for BTAS sets but the Gotham City Skyline is too expensive, the only good thing in the batmobile set is Mr Freeze and Harley Quinn (i dont like the new rubber cape for Batman, it looks weird), and the batcave set isn't even related to BTAS... The black looks really strange on its own, because it doesn't look how it looks in the cartoon. Its reminding of the BvS Batmobile set, that car is grey in the film and the set made it black and it's just odd. Yes the car is black in the shows canon, but the artstyle gives it those iconic blue highlights. The blue looks really nice to me, its different to the other Batmobiles and makes it stand out. However, the black with blue mixed in looks excellent and if i had the money i would probably do that. Looks really great.
