@@War-Horse-MMA I don't really understand your p4p rankings. Do you really think Jones would beat Aspinall right now? If so that makes sense that he's higher, but if you think Aspinall would beat Jones then by definition Aspinall should be ahead of him in p4p rankings. You can't be ahead of someone in p4p if they're in your same weight class and would beat you.

No. Pound for pound is about how dominant a fighter is in their weight class, relative to how dominant other fighters are in their weight class. P4p is NOT explicitly about skillset. Lighter weight classes are usually more skillful because they're quicker on their feet. Also they require more skill to beat an opponent because can't usually rely on one punch KO power which is much more prevalent at higher weight classes. Of course skill plays a role in determining which fighter is dominant against their competition in their own weight class. But p4p skill comparisons across weight classes is erroneous. You cannot hypothetically "upsize" a fighter and say he's better p4p than a bigger guy, because if the lighter guy was bigger he couldn't possibly retain his skill and speed due to size/weight constraints. Everyone needs to stop regurgitating this faulty rationale
@War-Horse-MMA2 ай бұрын
Fair enough, that's pretty good reasoning and can't really disagree, that's just my list and not everyone has to agree with it :)
@ghil2632 ай бұрын
I like listening to your takes generally since recently coming across your channel - just had to clarify this p4p thing which basically nobody online seems to understand because of this incorrect regurgitated idea that you should hypothetically upsize fighters to do a p4p ranking. By dominance, aspinall and topuria are the top p4p fighters. They are well above everyone else. Topuria is finishing p4p greats and aspinall has extremely low average fight time and running through everyone extremely dominantly. When they both had time to prepare, Makhachev went 5 rounds with volk when makhachev wasn't able to rehydrate for his usual size advantage. He also went into 5th round with poirier

Am I the only one who is of the opinion that DJ in his prime was the best p4p of all time, I mean I believe if he was taller like around 5'9 or 5'10 nobody would have had a shot against him hell I think he might have even beat JJ in his prime if he was 5'10 or something
@ghil2632 ай бұрын
That's a r.t.r.d.d thing to say. If he was bigger, there's no way he would be as skillful and fast due to size/weight constraints. Hypothetically upsizing fighters for comparative purposes is m.0.r.0.n.1.c. P4p ranking is about comparing how dominant fighter is in his weight class relative to how dominant other fighters are in their own respective weight classes
@abdulrafiujatoi33082 ай бұрын
@ghil263 yeah 👍 I get it but I was just trying to say how skillful DJ was and that his only drawback in an open fight like street fight would be his size, if he were bigger and assuming he would have his current skillset he would beat anybody in my opinion, I also get what you're trying to say which is also correct

Arman beat Charles. Tbh I dont think any HW or LHW with the exception of Jones should ever be on a p4p list. The skill gap between BW and HW is absolutely massive. It's a night and day difference. What has Aspinall even done to prove he's anwywhere near the likes of Yan and Topuria skill wise? Reign over a division filled with fat blobs? Periera has no grappling. How is he more skilled than Arman, Yan, Topuria, Sandhagen, Shavkat, Evloev, Holloway, Volk, Umar, Merab etc... P4p isn't an accomplishments ranking. It's a skill based 1
