@@waughfit interestingly enough, in my pictures it's looking like the shoulder that is high stayed the same but the shoulder that was lower seemed to be a little higher thus making it balanced. I think it corrects the shoulder that's lower. What do you think?

@@IsoXablethe idea with any posture correcting exercise is that you do it consistently, while changing whatever lifestyle you have that causes you to have bad posture, because keeping that lifestyle will truly continue to hurt your posture, usually I imagine against the efforts of the exercises. Just so you know, unless It's more than a couple centimeters ( > 1 inch) and you're not feeling any tightness and/or impingment while doing exercices involving your shoulder, you're probably fine. Our bodies aren't as symmetrical as people would think so don't get too self-aware about these kind of things, just listen to your body.

God bless you, Mr. Waugh. I will be trying these out. I had a type 2 or 3 AC joint injury some time ago, and it was untreated for months because I didn't notice it due to no pain, until I did. I got some therapy done, some kind of shock therapy, & IR therapy. I'll update if these work & I remember to. Take care.

Oh damn this kind of worked. I’m 17 and just noticed my right shoulder being lower than my left while taking a video of my hair length. All these google promots have me thinking i got scoliosis but my back has never hurted terrible and i have no symptoms. I think it’s just a shoulder problem because my collar bone also rubs against another bone whenever i rotate it circularlary. But I took a video after doing this exercise and it helped me i tjink I have to just get used to it. Thanks 😄

This sounds like there maybe a ribcage rotation biased toward the right and then a rounding if the right shoulder. I’d have to confine through an assessment though.

Hi, thanks you for the kind words. So inhibit means to just down regulate the muscle. We're trying to decrease neuromuscular tone. Think your brain has "default" lengths that it'll hold your muscles at. Say that muscle is too "tight" then we just want to go the opposite direction to try and create a new default positioning. You can have a decrease in strength. I know I've had folks do these types of exercises and they can't list as much as they were doing. That's due to your body not knowing how to create force from this new "default" length. It comes back though and it's good to train the muscle to be strong at all these different lengths. I hope that answers your question.

Could you *feel* that you were uneven in the before phase? I believe I have the same problem with one arm being lower. I can just.. feel it. It's uncomfortable. I can't barbell back squat because I'm not able to place the bar evenly on my back. My t-shirt will fall to one side, i can just FEEL unevenness when i'm walking, running, etc. Was it like that for you?

Definitely! It was a pain. I would lookin in the mirror for 15 minutes each night and try to pull my shoulder up and get it to stay even without consciously thinking about it. Super frustrating :/ I’ve definitely been there

Is this solution permanent? Or can it become permanent after a lot of reps, or does it always take you back to uneven shoulder? My right is same as yours, little bit lower than left side

It can be over time, but can sometimes take more than just biomechanics to fix. A lot of times you need to throw in some vision training to really make it "stick." The goal of these exercises is to show how quickly some stuff can change but 90% of time this stuff sticks over a couple weeks of doing these exercises 1x a day.

prior to doing this (and it working for you), how did you know that your right shoulder was the problem being lower, opposed to the left side being the problem but higher? I'm currently having the same issue as you (my right side is lower), but I don't know what side is actually the problem side, as my left side is causing me issues in my back and possibly have an intercostal injury because of it

God question. It’s honestly a combination of the left side higher AND then right side big lower. Left side needs to be pulled down and learn how to internally rotate better in many cases where as the right side needs to do the exact opposite- hence these exercises utilizing reaching

Lidija Petrovic the goal isn’t to strengthen one side vs the other. These breathing exercises set you up for good positioning so that you can do whatever strengthening exercise you want

Sir my right shoulder is slightly bent what actually happened I used to go jogging in the early morning. I used to do pull ups while exercising after jogging. I didn't notice during the pull-up that his right side was a little lower than the one I was hanging on to. After a few days of doing pull ups there I noticed my right shoulder dropped a little then I hung on the straight rod a few times but it didn't go away. Then you say any one solution.

@@kubas2136 I've found a study called "A single yoga pose each day may improve spine curvature for scoliosis patients", which shows that doing a side plank for a very long time can gradually correct the curvature of the spine. The study had 25 participants. They did it for 6.8 months and the improvements were about 40.9 % for those who did it at least 3 times per week, 49.6 % for adolescents and 38.4 % for adults. But in order to do it properly, you need to take some x-rays beforehand, and do it how they explain - “Asymmetrically strengthening the convex side of the primary curve with daily practice of the side plank pose held for as long as possible for an average of 6.8 months significantly reduced the angle of primary scoliotic curves. These results warrant further testing.” I feel pain when I workout as well on the shoulder that is higher. This is something I found recently so I can't speak of results yet but it seems promising. Just make sure it is scoliosis in your case as well. Then, maybe with the help of a physician, try to apply that.

If you want to gain height, you’ll want to focus more on sagittal plain. So anterior pelvic tilt and rib cage positioning will affect the spine the most. Tbh, this uneven shoulder technique is sort of a late stage posture thing I go after. There’s quite a bit more I use to make this really “stick”

It might, but that could be an issue with how you’re lifting the weights. I like to tempo exercises (5 seconds up and 5 seconds down) to fix this kinda stuff

Potentially! The uneven traps maybe steaming from uneven shoulders or muscle leverage due to a ribcage that’s positioned a little funny. One may work harder and gain more size. Does that answer your question?

senpai me great question. I’ve heard there’s two schools of thought. Some folks think you shouldn’t do anything but find neutral posture and then start an exercise routine. Then others think you can combine the two groups. I personally would rather stay in shape and workout while doing these activities. I really just use an exercise like this as a warm up or cool down activity. I think the only thing I would avoid during my exercise routine would be heavy back squats. Not that they’re bad, but just the way it loads the spine may hinder your posture gains. Kinda 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

Everyone's face is a little uneven. My jaw is a bit offset to the right. It's normal.
