I really enjoy this Project Hospital content! Here are some tips for selecting when building: - If you want to select something on a desk, table or cabinet (e.g. computer on a desk) you have to press 'Ctrl' while clicking on it - If you want to select something under another thing (e.g. cabinet under a wall-mounted cabinet) you have to press 'Shift' while clicking on it The 'open clinic at any specialized department'-goal means that you have to open a department that is not: Emergency, Radiology, Medical Laboratories or Administrative Department for example Internal Medicine. I don't know if Pathology counts as specialized department but unless you have patients dying I wouldn't build it. I would recommend you to build a pharmacy (pharmacy is under administrative department). The pharmacy increases your income because every patient visits it after the (final) doctor's visit and it gives your patients a boost in happiness. Another tip is some advanced management. It is to pay attention to the doctor who you assign as chief doctor. If he/she has the 'good boss' trait your staff will get a bonus in happiness. Especially your emergency chief doctor is important because he or she is in charge of not only the emergency department but also the radiology, medical laboratories and administrative department.

Don't worry about moving departments around a lot. This is the norm of real hospitals. The hospital I've worked at for 18 years has been in a constant state of remodeling and re-arranging. I've seen entire departments move several times. My pharmacy is currently being moved to another floor in a few months. It's interesting to hear about the behind-the-scenes politics between departments for who gets what real-estate. And then sometimes a department has to be moved due to engineering needs, like negative pressure systems, exhaust systems, radiation exposure, etc.

5:12 Agreed. Toggling off doctor mode for now is probably a good move. You can focus on the fundamentals of building the hospital and learning the game. Perhaps toggling on doctor mode later on in the series will be a good option and add some depth once you've mastered the basics.

Something that may help you with making money. The radiology is diagnostic only and doesn’t actually “cure” anything. They just cost money to run and don’t directly generate income. To make it really work for you, think about departments that use that equipment. I.e. Ortho treats broken bones and would need the x-ray machine to figure out what’s wrong and fix it. The ortho doctors also specialize in that area unlike the regular doctors you have now. So by building a department that will use that diagnostic equipment, you’ll make money when they are fully treated. Also, a mistake I made, be careful what you departments you build. Once you build it, you’ll start getting patients for that department. I.e. if you build cardiology, be ready for people with heart attacks and death. Keep it up! Your doing great and figuring things out quick.

Thank you for these tips! It really helps me out, good info here!

A couple more tips, and these may be spoilers so feel free to disregard. You only get paid for full treatment. If a patient dies, gets transferred, or treatment that isn’t fully done, you lose money. On the above, pay attention to what tests your Dr / patient needs. I.e.if you need to treat neurology, what testing equipment do you need vs what goes to other things you may not have built yet. If you build a CAG room, you are prepping for cardiology. CAG looks at blood vessels and the heart. It has very little use for orthopedic, which looks at bones and muscles. So you’ll waste money building a CAG and not being ready for cardiology. You are absolutely correct where you can expand too fast. You’ll go bankrupt, not be able to build new stuff, and lose. Slower is better here and making sure you can fully afford to expand. If you can only get a room or two of a a new department, probably not worth it. Your regular drs, you already have them, cure basic stuff like influenza and muscle aches. They don’t treat advanced stuff like heart attacks, bone breaks, etc. you’ll need drs and departments that specialize in those. It may help to organize by floors. I.e. 2nd floor is internal, 3rd is radiology, so on. Build any way you like, but the game can get complicated quickly if you have partial areas all over. Seriously you are doing great. Much better than I did starting out. I must’ve redid sandbox 10x to finally figure things out.

Go to any Army Hospital, all you do is wait. There are waiting rooms even for the bathroom. haha

Doctor mode is you being the doctor so whichever doctors you select you control the doctors and the patients they see.

Hearing you say that the lab is to big just made me chuckle. Wait until you get swarms of patients. Most likely you are experiencing this in other episodes now. Bigger is better for labs only one lab tech can do so much.

when you are in Dr mode you must attend to the patient's it is not done automatically. be careful about building to close to the map's edge on the sides your upper floors wont be able to build if you get to close to the map's edge

I love Project Hospital and I love watching your videos but making me stare at that Dodgers headband is just plain evil.

How can you be pleasant and depressed at the same time? Kanz, take it from someone diagnosed with MDD, there are times you can hide that crap so well that nobody realizes you're actually on the edge of something REAL serious... EVEN if those people are trained in mental health treatment, counseling etc. The face you show and the way you feel/mental health you actually have at the time are not the same at all.

28:37 Yes. That's the big mistake in any of these sandbox building games: expanding too fast. Even in games like King of Retail. RIP my first store. Methodically adding a few things at a time, then waiting to see the response is the best approach.
