[Hard Reset] VIZIO Smart TV Reset to Factory Settings || Hard Reset a VIZIO Smart TV

A hard reset is more serious. Not only does it do everything a soft reset does, it will reset the firmware or configuration of the device to their factory defaults, clear the memory, and reset the device entirely. A hard reset is basically the same as going back in time to when you first took the Vizio Smart TV out of the box.
To perform a hard reset on a Vizio Smart TV, you will need to use the TV remote. Before you begin, unplug your router. Then:
1. Press the menu button on your Vizio remote.
2. Navigate to “System” on the menu and select “OK.”
3. Select “Reset & Admin” and select “OK.”
4. Select “Reset TV to Factory Defaults” and select “OK.”
5. Enter your parental lock code when prompted. The default
6. parental lock code is 0000.
7. Select “Reset” and then “OK.”
8. Wait until the TV turns off.
The TV will wipe its config and restore all files from its cache. This may take a minute or two, and you will see the TV switching itself off and then on again. Once the hard reset is complete, you should see the TV setup screen.
1. Plug your router back in.
2. Perform the setup process on your TV and reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.
This method should work on most recent Vizio Smart TVs.

Currently I am experiencing an issue with my VIZIO TV and my AppleTV. The issue is that my appleTV will not display on my VIZIO, but will display on other televisions in my home. So I figured the issue lied with a need for a factory (hard) TV reset. I found myself frustrated because, I have the simple remote and the "menu" "-vol" button on the left side rear of the TV did not help to reset. Luckily, I paired my phone with the TV and was able to hard reset the TV that way.

Thanks, it got my Vizo working again (the hard reset/ service manual method). Again, thanks. I tried all my usual tricks and none of them worked. My Vizo occasionally freezes as soon as its turned on.I just get the V on the screen and nothing else will work (all controls are frozen). This "hard reset" got it going again.

I did a soft reset and I'm getting double images I thought this would have fixed should i do a hard reset or is it the tv that has a problem i had this TV since August 2018

Hey Snokoan2, double image shows due to hardware issues. Check your antenna and press menu button. If menu text shows double images then follow the below method. Please check or replace the T-con board. Before that, make sure to clean the LVDS and FPC cable contact pins with eraser. Any difficulties please let us inform and subscribe the channel. so below fix netflix thinks your going to take apart your tv , that can make things worse in the long run if you think thats something images your getting hold tight till you get this the black and blue and gray colors fight for something dark or black in a movie , run a movie that has dark like in a cave or a dark hallway , VIZIO cant keep up with anything dark in a movie bring yes but its the VIZIO tvs they cant handle anything in a film that has dark colors , its goe crazy .....stay away from VIZIO get a LG wow holds all the colors great , trow the VIZIO in the trash its nothing but issue after issue any other tv but just dont buy a VIZIO again !!! look at what others that have the VIZIO

I have a Vizio Model E43-D2 with only the simple remote. There is no Menu button on the TV or remote, and my TV is having trouble connecting to WiFi via the SmartCast app. So I cannot use the app to bring up the Menu either. How can I go about hard resetting the TV? Thanks!

Dear sir please follow the below steps Press the "Menu" button along the left side of the Vizio TV. Step Press the "VOL-" button along the left side of the Vizio TV until the Settings icon in the shape of a wrench is selected, then press "CH-" until "Reset All Setting" is highlighted. Step Press "VOL+." The Vizio TV will restart with the factory settings.

Im having the same exact problem and its frustrating because every solution says press the MENU button AND THERE ISNT ONE!!!! sorry bout that. My model is: vizio e32-d1. My problem is I moved and now my new wifi settings are different than they are configured in the TV. I just cant figure out how to clear those settings to allow it to grab the new wifi network........

Please help, my fiancé bought me a 65 inch Visio tv a year ago, everything was working now, but now anytime I press any buttons on the Visio tv remote, it turns the tv off, and when I press the volume button on my direct tv remote it turns off the tv. Remove the batteries from remote. And press randomly all buttons. Then wait few minutes and unplug the tv power cable from electric source. Hold tv power button for 10 seconds. I moved to a new location and the TV won't connect. I have a menu button on my remote, but nothing happens when I push it. I have no buttons on the side of my TV, except what looks like a silver power button, it turns off the TV but it comes right back on again. I don't know the model of the TV. Hi. I have an almost 10 year old 42" Vizio E422VA smart TV that has stopped turning completely on. When plugged in the led blinks until it gets into standby mode. Then I can press the ON button on either the set or the remote and it will display the Vizio logo. At that point none of the keys on the remote or the side of the set will work or indicate in any way that they have been pressed. I know that its at least partially up because of the logo and the fact that it gets assigned an IP address by my router. But it just displays the logo for about a minute and then shuts down before restarting by itself. It will stay in that loop forever. The service manual that I found gave a key sequence for getting into service mode but that doesn't work because none of the keys are being recognized. Is there another way to force a hard factory reset for this TV?
