How satisfied are you with the front bumper? Will I need heavier springs to deal with the extra weight? Considering this as my next upgrade to my 2008 FJ.

I really like this bumper. the install was not too bad at all and like how it maintains the original look of my FJ. The original bumper covers my winch so it's somewhat protected from the elements. Now..I drove with this bumper on my stock suspension for week or two before I installed my lift. It seemed nose heavy when braking..and I would get a little bit of nose dive. That was alleviated with the lift. Keeping in mind I have a 12,000 lb winch with cable...so that may have not been the case if I used a synthetic rope. To offer up advice on this bumper in regard to prep...I would say 1st..rough it up good with a sander..the whole thing. makes the the primer stick better. 2nd the one thing that I forgot...my Dad taught me back in the day...is take a small grinder..and lightly round every edge on the bumper. The steelwork has edges that are almost sharp. When painting a sharp edge like that...you cannot build paint on it. So the paint is very thin on edges...so I am going to have to do that as the edges are showing wear..and catching rust. A rounded edge won't do that. So everywhere there is an edge, inside,outside..in the fitting for the rollers...on the D shackle mounts...etc...take a small grinder and take the sharpness off the squared edges. I opted for Rustoleum rattlers to paint my gear...that way I can easily touch them up anytime I want. A little sanding on a chip..rattle the can and shoot ...done. So I won't have to take it to a shop etc... Hope that helps!
