The snaps are also there to attach shoulder pads or rain protection, which you can buy from Fjällräven. However, you should know that once you have installed the extra pads, the rain cover will no longer fit. They also sell a bottle holder for the side.

Fjällräven owns another company called Primus. Primus sells a bottle called Klunken. It was made to fit in to the side pocket of the Kånken backpack. I have one and it´s great!

Thank you for your video. I bought the laptop version of yours - so I can put valuables the back and lock the two zips together if needed. Also I bought narrower 600ml water bottle which fits like a dream . I also got crafty and sewed a key clip into the front pocket so I know where my keys are. I absolutely love mine and use it for everything!

I think the snaps on the straps are in case you plan to use it as a tote bag but don't want the straps trailing along the ground. Just pull them out and snap them up.

The reason why the straps are like that I believe is that obviously the history of it was designed for school children so I suppose was a feature that they kept in.

How is the black colour holding up for you? I want an all black no.2, but some people have said theirs has turned brown in a few months...I don't want to spend that amount of money if that's going to happen!

So mine still looks as good as new... I do store it in a dark cupboard when it's not out and about with me so that might make a difference but I haven't noticed any fading :-)

The buttons on the bag r 2 put the straps away n use the hands n the straps dnt hang u can buy a slip in water bottle pocket 4 the side pockets n if we real if a Thief wants ur stuff most the time thts hard 2 get around I ha few thgs from fjallraven kanken I love thm nice video

I also read they are there for the possibility of purchasing extra padded straps (found on the laptop version) for extra comfort.
