I really appreciate your honesty about how you don't need the matching pack if you've got your own pack! Thank you for the review :)

I found your video reviewing the Cool Cave Panniers very useful. I went hunting for them and bought 2 of each, but the products linked from your video go to REI, who are sold out of them, so I bought them elsewhere. Sending you this tip since you didn't get a cut of the sale. Thanks for all you do!🚴

That’s super kind and thoughtful! 😃 May you always find a parking spot (or bike rack) at your trailhead of choice for all your days!

Tip for handy folks, if you take cheap silicone from the hardware store and mix it with mineral spirits 1:3 so it's like real maple syrup consistency, and brush it on the lid, it will be a really durable PFAS, PFOS, PFC free waterproof coating!
@ollyyung2859 Жыл бұрын
I'd say the cool cave itself and the lid that doubles as a sling bag is the best value for this system. The tote is a waste of money. thanks for the awesome review!
@joshbenner2784Ай бұрын
The tote or any bag that is small enough to fit well in the cave bucket is great value if you are willing to leave the pannier permanently on your bike. If you take the pannier off frequently- I don’t disagree

Just purchased the coolcave and an awesome bit of kit very well made and robust. A rubber plug in base to drain collected water or just whenhosing down to clean. Ridged means no crushed goods. Fantastic for foraging/ fishing so much more. Yes will be buying another Great video 👍

Hi, thank you for your video. Could you measure dimension of inside bottom? The spec says 42 x 34 x 24 cm, however it seems it is measured at the top of pannier The bottom would a little bit narrower then the spec.

Worried about rattlin! You get any rattling when riding around?
@cescudify2 жыл бұрын
Hey Gabriel I feel the same way that there are no detailed reviews available. I was planning on getting these caves for bike touring and at some point it will get rained upon. Is there a hole in the bottom of the cave that water can drain through? I could't find a picture of the bottom in their website or any of the reviews. Thank you in advance!

@@travisdoran No rattling whatsoever
@gabriellundmark2 жыл бұрын
@@cescudify there is. It's a plug you can remove. I've also bought the Cave Packs now and they do a good job of keeping water out, although probably not completely waterproof

@@cescudify Yes they have a hole with a rubber plug in it

Is it possible to secure them on the bike so they dont get stolen?
@vokusa Жыл бұрын
Also interested in this detail... I assume some strategically placed cable ties would make it slightly harder to steal, but more security would always be more. I'm specifically eyeing the coolcave because I love my backpack and would like to dump it somewhere while riding the bike and then lock the bike up and walk away with my backpack without having to worry about the bike or the carrying system.

@@leefeinman3928 My update is that I decided the coolcave is too heavy for me and never got one.
@NahumOchoa14 ай бұрын
It looks like you can run a cable through the plastic handle on the cave to lock it to the rack or frame. For something more permanent you could probably use metal lock out/tag out cables. They aren’t the most secure, simple wire cutters will cut them, but it will keep the casual passerby from just lifting the cave.

I just purchased two sets (like you said, gotta balance out the weight) and this video was really helpful for showing how the Cool Cave Lid/Pack straps need to be setup. Thank you!

If you really want your travels and tours to be sustainable get yoursel a real bike (preferably made by metal not carbon fiber) and pedal. You're young and fit ain't no need of and electric bike.
@Terradrift4 ай бұрын
Sure, pedaling alone is more sustainable than a battery you need to charge. And I am young and fit. But some days I want to ride far with lots of heavy gear without killing my quads or taking hours to get there. And e-bikes make great alternative vehicles for those who can't afford a car or aren't as young and fit! So we're pro e-bike in the name of cycling accessibility for more folks!
